Dahl hasn't incurred any setbacks on the health front during spring training but is still expected to open the season at Triple-A Albuquerque, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
There doesn't seem to be much dispute of Dahl's readiness for the majors after he slashed .315/.359/.500 during a 63-game cameo with the Rockies in 2016, but the top priority is finding everyday at-bats for the soon-to-be 24-year-old after he had most of the 2017 campaign wiped out by a stress reaction in his rib in addition to back spasms. While the Rockies have some level of concern that either injury could flare up again, Dahl should receive another look from the big club if he's able to stay on the field for an extended period at Triple-A and continues to thrive at the plate -- he's hitting .250 with five home runs and four steals across 60 Cactus League at-bats. Gerardo Parra and Carlos Gonzalez would be most at risk of losing out of playing time once Dahl is called up to the big leagues.

Dahl may start the season in the minors now that Carlos Gonzalez is back with the Rockies, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The speedy 23-year-old initially was in the mix to be the primary right fielder, but with another veteran in the race for the job, the Rockies may opt to have Dahl get consistent at-bats at Triple-A Albuquerque before bringing him back to the majors. There are also rumblings about keeping Dahl in the majors considering his recent success at the plate (9-for-29 with with four homers and 13 RBI after starting the spring 0-for-15). Dahl has a bright future if he can stay healthy, but it seems like his path to playing time in 2018 is fairly murky as things stand now.

Dahl (back) is "good to go" and will be a full participant for the start of full-team workouts this spring, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The speedy outfielder missed most of last season due to a stress reaction in his ribs he incurred last spring. However, after an offseason of rehab, Dahl is fully healthy and ready to compete for the starting gig in right field. The early favorite appears to be Gerardo Parra (hand), although the veteran is currently tabbed to be out until early- to mid-March after undergoing hamate surgery in his right hand. In the meantime, Dahl will have an opportunity to prove his health and attempt to force his way into a regular role. The 23-year-old produced an .859 OPS with five steals in his first taste of the big leagues back in 2016, making him an intriguing fantasy outfielder if he can carve out a semi-regular role.

Rockies manager Bud Black said Saturday that he expects Dahl (back/ribs) to be a "full go" for the beginning of spring training next month, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. "He's engaged, he's running, he's lifting weights, he's swinging at 100 percent," Black said. "Right now there are no concerns, and medically everybody feels really good about David."
EDGE Analysis
Though Dahl hadn't swung a bat since the summer before returning to the cage earlier this month, the Rockies have apparently been satisfied with how the outfielder has looked during hitting sessions the last couple of weeks. While that amounts to positive news for Dahl, he may be on the outside looking in for an everyday lineup spot with the Rockies entering the upcoming season after back spasms and a stress reaction injury to his ribs limited him to just 19 games -- all in the minors -- in 2017. After slashing .315/.359/.500 across 237 plate appearances with Colorado in his first taste of the big leagues in 2016, Dahl's upside remains high, so he'll make for attractive roster filler in most settings even if he's limited to a part-time role or assigned to Triple-A Albuquerque to begin the 2018 campaign.

Dahl (back) will be able to start swinging a bat Thursday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Dahl was expected to start hitting again by the middle of December, this marks another positive step in his recovery from a back ailment that has bothered him since late July. There hasn't been much word regarding the condition of his injury, but if all goes well within the next couple months, he should be able to return to the field for most of spring training.

Dahl (back) is expected to begin swinging again in about two weeks, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dahl was hampered by back spasms throughout the 2017 campaign. He initially went down in spring training, and then his back flared up again in late July during his time with Triple-A Albuquerque. Although he may take some time easing his way back into baseball activities, the 23-year-old should be fully recovered by the time spring training rolls around.

Dahl, who is on the 7-day disabled list at Triple-A Albuquerque with back spasms, said last week that he doesn't expect to swing a bat again until December, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
After hitting .315 with seven home runs and five steals in 237 plate appearances during his first taste of the big leagues last season, Dahl was expected to cement himself as an everyday player for the Rockies in 2017. That never came to fruition, however, as the 23-year-old suffered a stress reaction injury to his rib in spring training, which prevented him from playing in minor-league rehab games until mid-July. He only ended up appearing in 17 contests in total before he was shut down July 31 with the back issues, prompting the Rockies to throw in towel on Dahl returning this season. The Rockies are hoping that some extended time off for rest will be exactly what Dahl needs to heal up and put himself in position to challenge for a full-time role with the big club heading into next spring.

Dahl was placed on the disabled list with Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday due to back spasms, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear what caused the issue, but it's a disappointing development nonetheless for the young outfielder who already missed the first half of the season with a stress reaction in his ribs. It's unclear how severe this injury is, although with much of 2017 already lost, it wouldn't be too surprising for the Rockies to play things very safely in this instance. Prior to getting hurt, Dahl mustered just a .243/.274/.414 slash line in 70 at-bats with the Isotopes.

Dahl (ribs) was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, the young outfielder will head to the minors to continue developing after missing much of the season due to a stress reaction in his rib cage. Dahl is 5-for-18 with a triple in five games with the Isotopes this year, but given his .859 OPS in the majors last season, it's possible that he could punch his ticket to the majors when rosters expand in September even though the Rockies are hesitant to rush him back to Denver after missing such a big chunk of time.

Rockies manager Bud Black reported Monday that Dahl (ribs) may not rejoin the Rockies this season, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dahl recently began a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque and was presumably gearing up towards rejoining the big-league club in the next couple of weeks. It appears that the Rockies have other plans for the toolsy outfielder and are in no rush to usher him back to the majors. In an interview Monday, Black stated that "[Dahl] didn't have spring training. This fella has to get at-bats. So he will stay down [at Triple-A] for awhile to get some at-bats." Fantasy owners had hoped that the 23-year-old could provide value in the near future, but it sounds like this may be a lost season for Dahl.
