Carpenter was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Wednesday. Carpenter's run in the Yankees' bullpen wasn't very impressive, posting just a 4.82 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with just a 11:7 K:BB ratio over 22 games and 18.2 innings this season. If he passes through the minors unclaimed, the team will likely send him back to the minors as organizational depth.

Carpenter allowed three runs on three hits and a walk while only recording two outs in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays. Carpenter was brought in to pitch the ninth inning with the team up 6-0, but struggled enough to make it a save opportunity for closer Andrew Miller. The 29-year-old's ERA of 5.23 is largely due to Tuesday's outing as he had allowed just three runs in 9.2 innings before that. Carpenter has seen a lot of work in the seventh inning, but without collecting many strikeouts or decisions, he likely won't make too big an impact in most fantasy formats.

Carpenter finished the spring with a 4.50 ERA and seven strikeouts in eight innings of work. Carpenter figures to slot into a middle-relief role with the Yankees, though with the emergence of Adam Warren as the team's fifth starter it's possible the right-hander will get some higher leverage opportunities later in games. The 29-year-old has posted solid numbers each of the past two seasons while maintaining a 10.1 K/9 in 2013 and 9.9 K/9 in 2014. He may be a reliable source of holds while Warren remains in the rotation, but he's unlikely to receive many -- if any -- save opportunities.

Carpenter agreed to a one-year, $1.275 million contract with the Yankees on Friday, Brian Hoch of MLB.com reports. Carpenter finished 2014 with a solid pitching line, posting a 3.54 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 67 strikeouts over 61 innings. The right-hander will enter 2015 likely in a middle-relief role for the Yankees.

Carpenter was traded to the Yankees on Thursday along with Chasen Shreve for Manny Banuelos, Jack Curry of YES Network reports. Carpenter completely things around in Atlanta, posting a 2.63 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in his two years with the club (121 appearances), after struggling with Houston and Toronto to begin his career. The right-hander served as one of the Braves' top setup men last season, but he'll be further down the pecking order with New York, with Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller and Adam Warren fairly well locked in as the top back-end options.

Carpenter threw a scoreless seventh inning to claim his 12th hold of the season Wednesday vs. the Dodgers. Jordan Walden's return from the disabled list in June has bumped Carpenter from the designation as the Braves' top setup man he enjoyed earlier this season, making his holds more infrequent these days. He's helped supplement his value to some degree with 54 strikeouts over 43.2 innings, but the lack of holds and a 3.92 ERA and 1.44 WHIP probably aren't enough to give him fantasy value outside of the deepest of NL-only leagues.

Braves activated RHP David Carpenter from the 15-day disabled list. Carpenter missed the minimum amount of time with a strained right biceps muscle. He'll return to a setup role ahead of Craig Kimbrel.

David Carpenter (biceps) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Saturday at Triple-A Gwinnett. Carpenter felt good after a bullpen session on Tuesday and could be back in the Braves' bullpen by the middle of next week. He has been on the disabled list since June 17 because of a strained right biceps muscle.

Braves placed RHP David Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right biceps. Carpenter suffered the injury during Monday's game and the Braves couldn't afford to go short-handed in their bullpen, so they had to make a move. No word on how much time he'll need to miss. Pedro Beato has been called up from Triple-A to take his spot on the active roster.

David Carpenter (biceps) will be re-evaluated Tuesday before the Braves consider making a roster move. Carpenter left Monday's game against the Phillies with right biceps discomfort. Even if he avoids a stint on the disabled list, the Braves figure to lay off him for a couple of days.
