Carpenter agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Monday, Kyle Boddy of Driveline Baseball reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter last pitched as a part of Arizona's farm system during the 2017 season, although he struggled to a 9.90 ERA with seven strikeouts in 10 frames as a reliever at Triple-A Reno. The 33-year-old reliever figures to provide Texas with organizational depth and will likely start the season at Triple-A Nashville.

Carpenter signed a minor league contract with the Diamondbacks on Friday and was assigned to Double-A Jackson.
EDGE Analysis
The right-handed reliever -- who made 15 appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake as a member of the Angels' organization last season -- owns a 3.66 career ERA over 218 major league games, though he hasn't appeared in one since a short stint with the Nationals back in 2015. Carpenter serves as organizational depth for the D-Backs at this point and faces an uphill battle towards getting another shot in the big leagues.

The Rays released Carpenter on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander didn't pitch in the majors last year and had signed a minor league deal Jan. 30. Tampa Bay has moved on from him, but another organization may bring him aboard as organizational depth.

Carpenter fired a clean inning and recorded a strikeout in Saturday's 7-2 Grapefruit League loss to a Pirates split squad.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty, who signed a minor league contract on Jan. 30, last pitched in the majors in 2015. He's a considerable long shot to serve as anything other than organizational depth this coming season, but did acquit himself well in his one inning Saturday.

Carpenter agreed to a minor league deal with the Rays, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter spent last year with the Angels but never made an appearance with the big league team, posting a 7.80 ERA across 15 innings with Triple-A Salt Lake. He last pitched in the majors in 2015, logging a 4.01 ERA in 24.2 innings with the Yankees and Nationals. He won't have much of an impact in 2017 and will primarily serve as an organizational depth piece.

Carpenter was signed by the Angels this week and has reported to Triple-A Salt Lake, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty was released by the Rays at the end of spring training and was a free agent up until recently when he was inked to a minor league deal with the Angels. He has made one outing at Salt Lake, striking out two batters in one inning of work.

Carpenter was released by the Rays on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter was having a strong spring, allowing no earned runs in six innings, but didn't fit in the Rays' plans. The reliever has bounced around a lot since leaving Atlanta after the 2014 season and will need to find another home. Without any real out-pitches, Carpenter is stuck in a one-inning middle relief role wherever he goes.

Carpenter signed a minor league contract with the Rays on Friday that includes an invite to big league camp, the Tampa Bay Tribune's Roger Mooney reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter, who was waived March 5 by the Braves, reported to camp Friday and will get to work on trying to earn a roster spot with the Rays. This is his sixth team since debuting in 2011, and while he could offer a veteran presence in the middle of the Rays' bullpen, he doesn't have the stuff to compete with the team's back-end arms for high-leverage opportunities.

Carpenter was released by the Braves on Saturday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While it might not be a surprise that the Braves would eventually release Carpenter, it is a surprise that they pulled the trigger so early in camp. This can't bode well for Carpenter's future in the league, as the Braves were the kind of rebuilding team that he should have had a decent chance at making.

Carpenter received a non-roster to spring training on Saturday, Kevin McAlpin of the Braves Radio Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter had a short stint with the Nationals cut short by a shoulder injury, which likely scared many teams away from offering him a 40-man spot, especially when his mediocre 3.68 ERA takes the reward away from the risk. His velocity also cratered in July while playing through inflammation in that shoulder. He'll need to show his old stuff in spring training before anyone is ready to give him his old set-up role.
