Hernandez (oblique) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez hit the injured list with a right oblique strain at the end of July. Given that he's been out for over a month, he'll likely need a small handful of rehab appearances before being activated.

Hernandez (oblique) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The bullpen session is dependent on the weather, as New England is in the path of tropical storm Henri, which has already forced the cancellation of the Red Sox-Rangers game Sunday. Hernandez, who has not played his July 29, would be a significant addition to the bullpen, which has not been good recently, posting a 6.53 ERA over the last 14 days.

Hernandez (oblique) is playing catch from 80 feet, and manager Alex Cora characterized the left-hander's progression as "slow," Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez resumed his throwing program after an MRI came back clean in early August, though he's not progressing quickly in his recovery from a strained right oblique. The 24-year-old remains without a timeline for his return but appears unlikely to be activated within the next couple weeks.

Hernandez underwent an MRI recently that confirmed his initial diagnosis of a right oblique strain, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Hernandez was feeling worse than when he went on the injured list Saturday, but the results of his examinations revealed good news. The southpaw's pain will have to subside before he's cleared to resume throwing, and a timetable for his return hasn't yet been established.

Hernandez (oblique) will have an MRI on Tuesday or Wednesday, as the injury is more serious than originally thought, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team initially thought Hernandez would be able to return soon from the injured list, but he is in more pain now, so they will run some tests. Pitchers can end up missing significant time with serious oblique strains, so he should be considered out indefinitely for now.

Hernandez was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a strained right oblique, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty will miss an indefinite amount of time with the oblique injury, which he presumably suffered during Thursday's game against the Blue Jays. Four consecutive scoreless appearances have lowered Hernandez's ERA to 3.44 on the season, although his 1.50 WHIP remains unspectacular. Newly acquired relievers Hansel Robles and Austin Davis were activated to replace Hernandez and Connor Wong on the 26-man roster.

Hernandez allowed four runs on two hits and two walks without retiring a batter in Sunday's 9-1 loss to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez made a bad night worse when he entered a 3-0 game in the seventh inning. A single, a two-run home run and two walks later, Hernandez was off the mound. Brandon Workman made the night even worse, walking three straight -- two with the bases loaded -- and the rout was on. Hernandez had been on a good roll prior to Sunday's contest; he had allowed just three runs over 18.1 innings to finish out the first half. There's still an issue with walks (7.5 BB/9 for the season), but he'd done a much better job in that regard since early June (3.8 BB/9 over 12 innings).

Hernandez (2-2) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, retiring all four batters he faced to win the game Tuesday over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez failed to record a strikeout, but he still didn't allow a baserunner besides the runner that started on second. He finished out the 11th inning after the Red Sox put up four runs to get the victory. The 24-year-old has a 3.04 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with nine holds over 23.2 innings. He is great at preventing the long ball with just two home runs allowed this season and three over his 62.1-inning career. In addition, his career GB/FB stands out at 1.8.

Hernandez (1-2) allowed a run on one hit and struck out two in one inning to earn the win Thursday versus Houston.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez gave up a solo shot to Jose Altuve in the sixth inning, but Boston rallied for five runs to take the lead in the bottom of the frame. That lead held up, and Hernandez picked up his first win in 24 appearances this year. The reliever has a 3.15 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 30:18 K:BB -- he's been far from dominant, but he's allowed just two homers in 20 innings. The southpaw has added eight holds and a blown save.

Hernandez struck out two and hit a batter over two-thirds of an inning in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
The talented yet inconsistent left-hander came on in a maximum-leverage spot and delivered two big strikeouts in the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, Hernandez fanned Bryce Harper on three consecutive pitches. After hitting Rhys Hoskins trimmed Boston's lead to one run, Hernandez went straight to work on Brad Miller. It looked like he struck out Miller on a 1-2 pitch that the umpire didn't view as a strike, but he locked in to deliver strike three two pitches later. Hernandez is knocked for nibbling and lacking command, but he was in pure attack mode Saturday.
