Duffy (4-8) gave up six runs on eight hits in a loss to Cleveland on Tuesday, striking out three and walking two in six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy gave up a couple runs in the first inning and then surrendered a grand slam to catcher Yan Gomes in the sixth. The home run was the only extra-base hit Duffy allowed in the contest, and he induced eight groundouts on the evening. Duffy was coming off two consecutive quality starts and had finally got his ERA under 5.00 since April. In seven of 18 starts this season Duffy has allowed five or more runs, and his 48 walks are the third-most allowed in the AL. He'll square off against the Twins in Minnesota in his next start.

Duffy (4-7) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Brewers, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over six innings while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander served up a solo homer to Jesus Aguilar but was otherwise sharp, throwing 64 of 95 pitches for strikes en route to his sixth quality start of the season -- five of which have come in his last seven trips to the mound. Duffy will take a 4.94 ERA into his next start Tuesday at home against Cleveland.

Duffy struck out seven in six scoreless innings Friday against the Astros, allowing two hits and four walks in a no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
The only hits Duffy allowed in the game were a double by Carlos Correa and a single by Jose Altuve. The lefty was excellent against a potent Astros lineup, and he's brought his ERA down to 5.18 on the year (it was at 6.88 on May 19). Duffy is still walking a high number of batters, resulting in a rather unfavorable 76:44 K:BB in 88.2 innings. His next start will be a matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee.

Duffy (3-7) took the loss Saturday against the Astros, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy settled down after allowing a two-run double to Jose Altuve in the first inning, but a pair of runs in the fifth inning followed by a three-run homer from Max Stassi in the sixth frame left the southpaw with an ugly line. While he's shown some improvement of late, Duffy still owns a rough 5.55 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 69:40 K:BB across 15 starts (82.2 innings) this season and is tough to trust thanks to blowups such as Saturday's. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, which will be a rematch against the Astros, this time on the road.

Duffy allowed four runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings in a no-decision Monday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy needed 99 pitches to get through just five frames, and he has now completed the sixth inning in just two of his past six starts. His strikeout rate has been mediocre all year, sitting at 7.5 per nine innings, his lowest since 2015, but this is the first time he has failed to record a strikeout all season long. If he wants to fix his 5.81 ERA, he'll need to find a way to generate swings and misses again. His next chance will come Saturday against the Athletics.

Duffy allowed one run on four hits in a no-decision against the Twins on Tuesday, striking out four and walking four in six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy was effectively wild in Tuesday's contest, throwing just 66 of 108 pitches for strikes while preventing any extra-base hits. This was the second straight start in which Duffy held the opponent to one run while going at least six innings, shaving his ERA down to 5.71 on the year. Duffy's strikeout numbers are down this year while his walk numbers are up, resulting in a 54:31 K:BB in 64.2 innings (last year he posted a 130:41 K:BB in 146.1 innings). He will next face off against the Angels in a start in Los Angeles.

Duffy (1-5) allowed nine earned runs on eight hits while walking five and striking out two across 3.1 innings to take the loss Sunday against the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy was in trouble the entire game, allowing multiple batters to reach base in each inning he pitched. The big blows came on two separate three-run home runs, the second of which ended his day. This outing continued his season-long trend of blowup outings as it was his fourth start in which he allowed at least five earned runs. He has paired that with three starts in which he has held opponents to one earned run or fewer, so he hasn't been horrible for every start. However, to be trustworthy on start-to-start basis, he'll have to improve on his 2.3 HR/9.

Duffy said Sunday that he intends to work exclusively out of the stretch in his subsequent starts, Rustin Dodd of The Athletic Kansas City reports.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy has struggled mightily through his first seven starts of 2018, submitting a 5.63 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and allowing nine home runs over 38.1 innings. On the recommendation of pitching coach Cal Eldred, Duffy will go back to the stretch with the hope of avoiding tipping pitches, which the lefty believes has been an issue when he has worked out of the windup this season. Duffy will debut his plan Tuesday against the Orioles in Baltimore, but he'll likely need to display improved results before fantasy owners can keep him active with much confidence.

Duffy fell to 0-3 on the season after allowing six runs on ten hits in 4.2 innings Saturday against the Tigers. He struck out a pair of batters while walking two.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy was throwing on short rest, so his struggles are to some extent forgivable, but the Royals had to have expected better than this. He was in trouble all day, never facing few than five batters in an inning. He gave up one run in the first on a Nicholas Castellanos single and two more in the third on a Castellanos homer. He allowed a fourth run in the fifth inning after giving up three singles before reliever Tim Hill walked in two more of his inherited runners. Duffy now has a discouraging 5.26 ERA through his first five starts. He'll try to right the ship Friday against the White Sox.

Duffy will throw on three days' rest Saturday against the Tigers, Rustin Dodd of The Athletic Kansas City reports.
EDGE Analysis
With two doubleheaders in the span of four days, the Royals are unable to keep their starters on a normal rotation. They're electing to throw Duffy on short rest rather than call up a spot starter. There's a good chance that the lefty won't be able to go as deep into the game as he normally would and his overall performance could be affected, but at least he gets to face a relatively weak Tigers' offense. So far this season, Duffy has thrown 21 innings with a 3.86 ERA. He has a solid 25.6 percent strikeout rate, but his 12.2 percent walk rate is nearly double the 6.7 percent figure he posted last season.
