The Rays optioned Robertson to their taxi squad Sunday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Robertson's latest stint with the big club lasted one day, as he'll return to the Rays' taxi squad with the team activating reserve catcher Kevan Smith (illness) from the COVID-19 injured list. The Rays appear to view the lefty-hitting Joey Wendle and the righty-hitting Mike Brosseau as their top utility infielders at this time, leaving no room on the active roster for Robertson.

Robertson was recalled by the Rays on Saturday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Robertson was on the taxi squad for the Rays' current road trip, and he'll join the 30-man roster after Kevan Smith was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday. The utility man should serve as depth for the major-league club until Smith is ready to return. Robertson appeared in 74 major-league games with the Rays last year and had a .607 OPS with 12 extra-base hits, 19 RBI and 24 walks.

Robertson is traveling with the Rays as part of the two-man taxi squad for a five-game road trip that begins Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rays are headed to Atlanta for two games and then have a three-game set with the Orioles over the weekend in Baltimore, and Robertson will join pitcher Anthony Banda as emergency depth. The utility man was optioned to the Port Charlotte alternate training site Monday once Diego Castillo returned from the paternity list.

Robertson was optioned to the Rays' alternate training site Monday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Robertson made the Rays' Opening Day roster after Diego Castillo landed on the paternity list, but he's now been removed from the roster upon Castillo's return. He did not appear in any of the team's first three games.

Robertson was recalled from the Rays' alternate training site Friday, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old failed to make Tampa Bay's initial 30-man roster, but he'll end up making the team with Diego Castillo going on the paternity list. Robertson should operate as a reserve utility infielder.

The Rays optioned Robertson to their alternate training site Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tampa Bay opted to keep Mike Brosseau as a seventh infielder on the 30-man Opening Day roster over Robertson. Given his ample big-league experience (237 career games) and ability to play all over the diamond and in the outfield, Robertson should rank high on the list for a callup if the Rays need an extra reserve bat at any point in the 60-game season.

Robertson's chances of an Opening Day roster spot appear to strongly hinge on now many pitchers manager Kevin Cash opts to keep, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The utility asset has been mostly scuffling at the plate since last season, but he still offers a considerable amount of defensive versatility based on his ability to play three infield spots and throughout the outfield as well. Robertson and Mike Brosseau, who, like the former, can also play second base, shortstop and third base, appear to be in contention for the final utility spot. However, Toribio projects both will likely make the roster if Cash chooses to keep 16 pitchers instead of 17.

Robertson, who's looking for a bounce-back season at the plate after struggling in 2019, came up hitless against two pitchers in Sunday's simulated game, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The utility asset grounded out against Jose Alvarado and Aaron Loup, extending what has by all accounts been a quiet summer camp for him thus far. Robertson was only serviceable at the plate during Grapefruit League play this spring with a .250 average (6-for-24), so the hope is he manages to generate some momentum over the last 10 days of the ramp-up to the regular season.

Robertson is one of the members of the Rays roster with something to prove during a potential 2020 season, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The versatile utility asset continued to put in time all over the infield in 2019 -- Robertson saw action at second base, shortstop and third base -- and he's also toiled in the outfield at the big-league level. However, Robertson saw a major downturn at the plate last season, slashing an underwhelming .213/.312/.295 across 237 plate appearances while also suffering a midseason knee injury that required surgery. The 26-year-old re-upped with the Rays for $1 million in what was his second year of arbitration, so salary won't be an issue in and of itself; however, if other options such as Mike Brosseau or Nate Lowe are able to impress during a 2020 season that appears destined to feature expanded rosters if it does unfold, Robertson could be surpassed if he isn't able to make notable improvement at the plate.

Robertson remains in contention for an Opening Day roster spot after the Rays optioned Mike Brosseau and Nate Lowe on Thursday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Robertson had been competing for a utility role before spring training was suspended, and he'd hit .250 (6-for-24) with a double, an RBI, three walks and four runs across 11 Grapefruit League games. Robertson's strong glove and ability to play second base, shortstop and third base certainly make him valuable from a defensive perspective, but he'll need to bounce back offensively after generating a pedestrian .213/.312/.295 line across 74 games last season.
