Daniel Murphy had a terrific day at the plate on Saturday, going 4-for-4 and scoring a run in the Mets' 4-3 victory over the Diamondbacks.
Murphy has done well in the early part of the season, with the four-hit effort raising his average to .315. He isn't going to "wow" anyone with his power or speed, but he's proving to be a more-than-solid middle infielder.

Daniel Murphy is not in Tuesday's lineup.
It's the first day off of the season for the 27-year-old infielder. Justin Turner is starting at second base on Tuesday night against the Astros.

Daniel Murphy went 2-for-5 with an RBI in a losing effort against the Braves on Tuesday.
The Mets struggled to get anything going on offense in this one, and were put in a 6-0 hole after the second inning. Murphy is off to a solid start to the season, hitting .279 (12-for-43) with five RBI in the early going. While unspectacular, he represents a solid middle infield option in deeper mixed leagues.

Daniel Murphy went 2-for-3 and knocked in both Mets runs in Saturday's loss.
Murphy hasn't played anything except second base this spring, so the Mets seem committed to sticking with him there. He's a big injury risk, but he should be pretty useful while healthy.

Daniel Murphy told ESPN New York's Adam Rubin that he is "preparing full throttle" to be New York's second baseman and is "100 percent".
Murphy has been hitting and running in preparation for spring training. He tore the MCL in his left knee in an ugly play at second base in early-August, but is expected to be ready for camp. The 26-year-old batted .320/.362/.448 with six homers, 49 RBI and an .809 OPS over 423 plate appearances this season. Murphy is currently slated to enter the 2012 season as the Mets' starting second baseman and will have some fantasy appeal, even if he's unlikely to replicate last year's numbers.

The Mets are unlikely to trade Daniel Murphy.
"Some players are more valuable to us than other clubs," a Mets official told ESPN New York. Murphy is currently slated to enter the 2012 season as the Mets' starting second baseman. And since Angel Pagan won't lead off 162 times, Murphy is expected to bat first on a handful of occasions. The 26-year-old batted .320/.362/.448 in 423 plate appearances this year.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Tigers, Blue Jays and Padres have called the Mets about a potential trade for infielder Daniel Murphy.
Murphy is currently slated to enter the 2012 season as the Mets' starting second baseman, but that could change if GM Sandy Alderson gets an attractive trade proposal. Murphy, 26, batted .320/.362/.448 in 423 plate appearances this year. Sherman says the Mets like Tigers outfielder Andy Dirks and view him as a potential alternative in center field to Angel Pagan.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Sunday that he is committing to Daniel Murphy as the starting second baseman, but reiterated that New York doesn't plan to pursue a free agent second baseman.
The Mets were reportedly shopping Murphy last month, so clearly they aren't smitten with him. But with Jose Reyes departing for Miami and Ruben Tejada taking over as the full-time shortstop, Murphy appears to be New York's best option at second. The 26-year-old hit .320/.362/.448 in 423 plate appearances this year.

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the Mets have informed teams that Daniel Murphy is "available."
In other words, the Mets aren't necessarily ready to commit to Murphy as their starting second baseman if Jose Reyes departs and Ruben Tejada becomes the starting shortstop. Still, he's not yet arbitration-eligible and the Mets would love to fit his bat into the lineup, so a trade appears unlikely.
