Castro seems to be in line for a roster spot to start the season if Pat Valaika (oblique) isn't healthy by then, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castro's bat offers little fantasy upside (.217/.250/.265 slash line in 239 career MLB plate appearances), but his positional versatility makes him a good candidate to fill a bench role for Colorado. He offers significantly more real-life value than fantasy value though, so even if he can crack the Opening Day roster, Castro is a name that can be looked over even in NL-only leagues.

Castro signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies which includes an invitation to spring training.
EDGE Analysis
Castro's ability to play around the infield earned him a pair of trips to the majors in 2015 and 2016, though he struggled to a .217/.250/.265 line across 239 plate appearances during that time and subsequently spent all of last season in the minors. The 25-year-old, who hit a respectable .306/.344/.397 in 115 games for Triple-A Albuquerque in 2017, should compete for a utility role in spring.

Castro was reassigned to minor league camp Monday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old infielder didn't pose much of a threat to claim a roster spot, especially after batting just .235 and walking once in 35 spring plate appearances. Castro will likely serve as an organizational depth piece moving forward, but his positional versatility could land him a spot in Denver later in the season if he picks things up at the plate during his time in the minors.

Castro received an invite to Rockies spring training.
EDGE Analysis
Castro doesn't provide much in the way of offense, as he holds a career .217 batting average in the majors over 239 plate appearances. He is a good defensive infielder with the ability to play multiple positions, as Atlanta used him at second, third and shortstop last season. The Rockies have some of the league's top young stars at those three infield positions, however, so Castro isn't likely to get any big opportunities in the near future. He's likely to serve as organizational depth following spring training.

Castro signed a minor league contract with the Rockies, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castro has a surprising amount of major league experience thanks to his ability to play across the infield. However, the .217 batting average he holds in the big leagues along with the studs blocking him at each infield position will likely keep the 24-year-old in a very limited role in the organization moving forward.

Castro was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castro has seen a sizable amount of major league playing time over the past couple years, but he hasn't taken advantage of it, as displayed by his .217 batting average in the big leagues. The 23-year-old will head back to the minors to find his stroke and act as organizational infield depth.

Castro was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Castro shuttled between the majors and the minors all season, but he should be up with Atlanta for good now that the active rosters expanded. That being said, the 23-year-old likely won't garner too much playing time with Jace Peterson, Adonis Garcia, and Dansby Swanson locking down the infield positions at the moment.

The Braves have optioned Castro back to Triple-A Gwinnett, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was a short stay for Castro, who was called up to Atlanta on Sunday. During his brief stint, Castro got no at-bats for the Braves. He will head back to Triple-A Gwinnett where he was hitting .264 in 110 at-bats, showing minimal power and speed.

Castro was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
While Castro will be back with the big club, he'll likely be limited to a bench role, as he's posted a weak .182 batting average in the MLB this season. He struggled to perform with Gwinnett as well, where he owned a .264/.284/.345 line.

Castro was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, Kevin McAlpin of 680 AM Atlanta reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castro will be the last man out following the activation of Erick Aybar (foot), as both Castro and Chase d'Arnaud had been splitting time at shortstop with the regular starter on the shelf. According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, d'Arnaud will get the starting nod at second base Sunday. With an infield near full strength, the 23-year-old Castro will head back to the minors where he can continue to see consistent at-bats.
