Sanchez is expected to be piggybacked by Michael Lorenzen in his next scheduled start Tuesday in Atlanta, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Phillies likely to pare down their six-man rotation to five as the regular season winds down, Lorenzen looks set to make his first appearance as a reliever since the 2021 season. Sanchez will keep his rotation spot over Lorenzen for now, but both pitchers could be moved to the bullpen once the postseason begins. With manager Rob Thomson not clarifying exactly how long he plans to have Sanchez work before giving way to Lorenzen, Sanchez could struggle to reach the five innings he would need to qualify for a win. Sanchez would tentatively line up for his second start of the week next Sunday against the Mets, but he could be piggybacked by Lorenzen for that game, too.

Sanchez did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing four hits and one walk over five scoreless innings against Miami. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Following an eight-day layoff since his previous start, Sanchez kept the Marlins off the board and left the game in line for the win. However, the Phillies' bullpen allowed three runs to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Sanchez has now allowed two or fewer runs in 10 of his 15 starts this season. He'll carry an ERA of 3.26 into his next start, currently scheduled to take place mid-week in an important home series against Atlanta.

Sanchez did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits over 4.2 innings against the Angels. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
It looked like Sanchez had found his rhythm after giving up a two-run homer to Hunter Renfroe in the top of the second as the left-hander followed up the mistake by hurling two scoreless frames. However, things unraveled for him in the fifth after he allowed back-to-back hits to open the inning, which then led to three runs coming across for Los Angeles. Sanchez had gone six innings in three straight starts coming in and it was the first time he failed to make it through at least five frames since June 17. On a positive note, he has not issued a walk in each of his last three outings and has now recorded at least five strikeouts in five straight.

Sanchez (2-3) earned the win Friday, allowing two runs on five hits and zero walks over six innings against St. Louis. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez climbed into a hole early, allowing a one-out two-run homer to Paul Goldschmidt in the first, but then settled down to not allow another run throughout the remainder of his outing. Sanchez has provided quality innings for the Phillies this year, allowing three or fewer runs in 12 of 13 starts. He'll take an ERA of 3.33 into his next start, which is currently scheduled to take place Wednesday afternoon at home against the Angels.

Sanchez came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 12-3 win over the Nationals, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits over six innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw delivered his second straight quality start on an efficient 78 pitches (54 strikes), but Sanchez actually exited the game in line for his fourth loss as the Phillies didn't even get on the board until the top of the seventh inning. With Ranger Suarez (hamstring) on the shelf, Sanchez's spot in the rotation is secure for now, but he was already making a strong case to hang onto the assignment -- since the All-Star break, he's posted a 3.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB through 39 innings. His next turn is likely to come at home next weekend against the Cardinals.

Sanchez (1-3) picked up the win in Friday's 13-2 rout of the Twins, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
After Sanchez failed to get into the win column in his first 10 starts of the season, the Phillies' offense made sure this decision wasn't going to be in any doubt. The quality start was the fourth of the year for the 26-year-old lefty, but both runs off Sanchez came on solo homers, and he's now served up 11 long balls in his last 50 innings. His overall stinginess has minimized the damage, however -- over that stretch, he has a 3.42 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB. With two off days coming up next week, the Phillies may not continue rolling with a six-man rotation, so despite his effectiveness as a starter in 2023, Sanchez's next appearance could come in long relief.

Sanchez did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two walks over five hitless innings against the Pirates. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez also hit three batters before departing the game after five innings without allowing a hit. The 26-year-old left-hander has still yet to earn a win this season despite pitching to a 2.12 ERA over his last six starts. Overall, Sanchez is 0-3 with a 2.66 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB across nine starts (47.1 innings) this season. He'll look to get in the win column in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against Kansas City.

Sanchez did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on four hits over seven innings in a 3-2 loss against the Orioles. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez was excellent Monday, setting a new career high with eight strikeouts while allowing just two runs on a pair of solo homers. Despite his 0-3 record, the 26-year-old left-hander has been solid for the Phillies of late, posting a 2.48 ERA over his last five starts. Sanchez now sports a 2.98 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP and 38:6 K:BB through eight starts (42.1 innings) this season. He's currently lined up to make his next start Sunday against the Pirates.

Sanchez didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Brewers, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
An Edmundo Sosa error in the second inning contributed to a three-run inning for Milwaukee, but Sanchez otherwise held the Brewers in check and saw his offense tie the game up before he left the mound. The southpaw has worked at least five innings and allowed three runs or fewer in five straight starts, posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB through 27 innings over that stretch as he helps steady the back of the Phillies' rotation. Sanchez's next outing lines up at home early next week against the Orioles.

Sanchez (0-3) took the loss Friday, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk over five innings against the Padres. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty came into this one riding high, having posted a 2.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 22:4 K:BB over his first five starts for the Phillies this season (25.1 innings). He was brought down a peg Friday, though it was still a respectable showing, with all the damage being done on a pair of long balls. There's streaming appeal here, but Sanchez will need to keep it up in order to maintain his starting job after the trade deadline. The Phillies are in the mix for a wild-card spot and could add a starting pitcher.
