Stammen (5-3) was charged with the loss Friday against Arizona as a result of serving up a walkoff home run to the only batter he faced (Daulton Varsho).
EDGE Analysis
Stammen came into the contest in the ninth inning with the score tied 2-2. He worked the count full before Varsho took him deep to right field for a walkoff homer. The loss continued Stammen's recent rough patch -- over his past four outings, the right-hander has given up seven runs on 12 hits and one walk over 3.1 innings.

Stammen opened Tuesday's 6-5 victory over Miami, allowing four runs on six hits with two strikeouts in two innings. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen struggled for the second straight outing, permitting four hits and three runs in the first and another in the second. San Diego rallied and eventually took the lead in the fourth inning to get Stammen off the hook for the loss, but the 37-year-old has now surrendered six runs in his last three innings to increase his ERA from 2.47 to 3.18 in the two-game span. The slump comes on the heels of nine innings without a allowing an earned run.

Manager Jayce Tingler said he's planning to have Stammen serve as the opening pitcher in a bullpen game Tuesday against the Marlins, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
San Diego lacks a true No. 5 starter at the moment while all of Chris Paddack (oblique), Dinelson Lamet (forearm) and Mike Clevinger (elbow) are on the injured list, so expect Tingler to turn to a number of pitchers to fill innings behind Stammen once he exits the game. Reiss Knehr covered three frames in a spot start for Paddack on Aug. 1, but he may not be ready to serve as a true bulk reliever after tossing two innings in relief Friday. Stammen hasn't worked more than two innings in any of his appearance since April 15, so the Padres likely won't ask him to record any more than six outs.

Stammen (5-2) fired a scoreless fourth inning, allowing one hit to earn the win over the Rockies on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen entered the fourth inning with a three-run lead. He allowed a leadoff single to Brendan Rodgers, but retired the next three batters in order. The 37-year-old had been almost perfect in his last six appearances, firing eight scoreless innings on six hits and a walk while striking out nine. On the season, Stammen is one of the Padres' bullpen leaders with a 2.51 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP in 61 innings.

Stammen was reinstated from the paternity list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen had been away from the Padres since Tuesday following the birth of his child, but he should be available out of the bullpen going forward. The right-hander has posted a 2.16 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 8.1 innings since the start of July. Left-hander Daniel Camarena was optioned to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.

Stammen was placed on the paternity list prior to Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen will miss Tuesday's contest and can remain on the paternity list for up three games. With that in mind, he'll likely be back in the Friars' bullpen by Friday's matchup against Miami. Miguel Diaz was recalled from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding roster move.

Stammen (3-2) took the loss in Sunday's 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Rockies, allowing one run on two hits in 1.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Jayce Tingler was forced to deploy his bullpen early following starter Ryan Weathers' injury, making Stammen the third of six San Diego relievers. The righty came in for the sixth and stayed for the seventh but was removed following a Chris Owings solo home run with one out. It was Stammen's second appearance of more than one inning in his last 14 games and he enters the All-Star break with a 2.89 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 52:7 K:BB Ratio.

Stammen allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out one across two innings Tuesday against the Reds. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Stammen hadn't started a major-league game since 2010, but he was called upon to do so after Blake Snell was scratched with an illness. As expected, he didn't work deep into the game and threw only 29 pitches in what turned out to be a bullpen game for the Padres. Stammen should be expected to shift back to his typical role as a reliever in his next appearance.

Stammen will start in place of Blake Snell (illness) on Tuesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Snell was scratched due to dehydration and stomach problems, according to manager Jayce Tingler. Stammen hasn't logged more than two innings since mid-April, so he almost certainly won't pitch past the third inning Tuesday. The Padres' pitching plans after Stammen aren't entirely clear, but all signs point toward a bullpen game.

Stammen pitched two innings in relief against the Mets on Sunday, giving up three runs on four hits while striking out one. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander entered the contest in the seventh inning with San Diego trailing by two runs. He allowed a score in his first frame, then served up a two-run homer to James McCann in the eighth. Stammen has a respectable 3.28 ERA overall this season, but he has struggled of late, giving up seven runs and two homers over his past seven innings.
