Cole Hamels was dominant over seven innings as the Phillies defeated the Reds 12-1 on Saturday night.
Hamels struck out 10 batters and allowed just one run over those seven frames -- a line almost identical to his outing last Sunday against the Mets. He had some struggles out of the gate this season after missing most of April but is back to ace-like form now in mid-May. The left-hander will face the Dodgers in a must-see matchup next week.

Cole Hamels struck out 10 while allowing one run over seven innings but settled for a no-decision against the Mets on Sunday.
Hamels' left shoulder must be feeling good, because he needed 133 pitches to get through his seven innings of work. It was the highest pitch count Hamels has reached in his nine-year career and the most pitches any starter has thrown this season. The southpaw allowed seven hits and walked three along with his 10 strikeouts. It was the best of Hamels' four starts this year and, frankly, it's surprising it even took this long for the 30-year-old to round back into form. He'll take on the Reds on Sunday his next time out.

Cole Hamels got the no-decision in Tuesday's start against the Blue Jays, allowing five runs in six innings of work.
Hamels blamed the weather conditions for his poor outing in his prior start against the Mets, and skipped his scheduled start Tuesday due to the flu. Hamels will be scrambling for a way to explain his performance on Tuesday with perfect conditions and improved health, as he allowed ten hits -- including two home runs -- and walked one while striking out six. Hamels isn't nearly as bad as his 7.02 ERA in 16 2/3 innings indicates, however.

Cole Hamels was shelled for six earned runs in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Mets.
The conditions weren't promising for this one. It was a night of cold and ugly weather in Philadelphia and Hamels made his regular-season debut last week in Los Angeles after a rehab assignment that took place primarily in Florida. He should bounce back next time out against the Blue Jays.

In his season debut, Cole Hamels allowed two runs on six hits over six innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers.
Activated from the disabled list earlier in the day, the southpaw struck out five and walked one. He showed no ill-effects from the biceps tendinitis that robbed him of the first three weeks of the schedule, but that wasn't a surprise after his strong showing on a rehab assignment. Hamels will toe the rubber at home against the Mets on Tuesday.

Phillies activated LHP Cole Hamels from the 15-day disabled list.
Hamels will make his season debut on Wednesday against the Dodgers. While it's not an ideal first matchup, the left-hander held a 2.12 ERA and 12/1 K/BB ratio in 17 innings during his rehab assignment and can be safely penciled into fantasy lineups from the get-go.

Cole Hamels (biceps) tossed seven innings of one-run ball Thursday for High-A Clearwater in what is expected to be his final rehab start.
Hamels gave up just three hits, walked one and struck out two. The left-hander has posted a 2.12 ERA and 12/1 K/BB ratio over his 17 rehab innings to this point, clearing the way for him to rejoin the Phillies' rotation early next week. Assuming the club keeps Hamels on schedule, he'll make his season debut on Tuesday versus the Dodgers.
