CBS Sports' Jon Heyman heard from a source Monday that the Rangers are a "long shot" for Cliff Lee. And the Dodgers are said to have no interest because of the money involved. Lee is owed $25 million per season from 2013-2015 and carries a $27.5 million club option for 2015 with a $12.5 million buyout. The Phillies could struggle to find a legitimate suitor at this year's deadline.

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee is "in play in trade talks." Olney calls the Rangers "the most logical landing spot" and says third base prospect Mike Olt could serve as a possible centerpiece. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman heard Friday that Lee was unlikely to be dealt at this year's deadline, but the Phillies just got swept by the Braves and may be more willing to sell off some pieces than they once were. Hunter Pence, Shane Victorino and Juan Pierre are also reportedly being shopped around.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Phillies will not trade Cliff Lee before the deadline. Heyman was told by someone with Phillies' ties that trading Lee would "potentially undo most or all the good that was done by extending Cole Hamels," and that the team's plan is to "build around its trio of great starters." Some believe that the Phillies might not end up being sellers, as they still fancy themselves as playoff contenders.

According to FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi, rival executives believe the Phillies will begin considering trade offers for left-handed starter Cliff Lee. Lee has three years and $87.5 million left on his contract and hasn't been as dominant this season, and the Phillies need to try to clear some payroll space after committing six years and $144 million to Cole Hamels on Tuesday night. Lee would likely attract plenty of interest if the Phils indeed shop him. The 33-year-old southpaw has a 2.52 career ERA in postseason play.

Cliff Lee held the Dodgers to one run and two hits in eight innings in a no-decision Wednesday. There simply wasn't anything separating Lee and Clayton Kershaw today. It's the sixth time this season Lee has allowed two runs or fewer and gotten left with a no-decision or a loss.

Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that the Rangers could consider a trade for Cliff Lee as they search for a frontline starter. Knobler refers to the possibility as a "longshot," saying that Texas' primary targets are Lee's teammate, Cole Hamels, and the Brewers' Zack Greinke. Lee is owed $25 million each of the next three seasons, with the Phillies having a $27.5 million club option for a fourth year. We seriously doubt he's going anywhere.

Cliff Lee was solid in a losing effort against the Rockies on Friday, giving up two runs on nine hits over six innings of work. He walked one while striking out four on the night. It was the second straight strong outing from Lee, who finally looks to be getting his 2012 season on track. He'll look to continue his recent success when he takes on the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Cliff Lee finally won a game after allowing two runs in eight innings and striking out nine Wednesday against the Mets. The Phillies trailed most of the game before picking Lee up with nine runs in the last three innings. Lee had been 0-5 with a 4.13 ERA in 13 starts for the season. While he was mostly pitching in bad luck early on, he had given up 20 runs over 24 2/3 innings in his previous four starts.

Cliff Lee turned in an abysmal performance against the Marlins on Friday, allowing six runs on 10 hits in just 4 2/3 innings of work. Lee walked two and struck out three in the brutal performance. He seemed to pitch himself into trouble in every inning, and was catching far too much of the plate to have success. Astoundingly, Lee now sits at 0-5 on the season with a 4.13 ERA, though his K/BB rate is still elite at 89/19 in 89 1/3 innings. He'll attempt to right the ship and pick up that elusive first victory when he takes on the Mets in New York on Thursday.

Friday's game between the Rays and Phillies was rained out. The two teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader on Sunday, with the first game beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET and the nightcap scheduled for 6:05 p.m ET. Friday's starters Cliff Lee and James Shields will presumably be pushed back to Saturday.
