San Diego Padres starting pitcher Clayton Richard (knee) will have season-ending surgery on his knee. He was just placed on the disabled list with knee inflammation on Tuesday. The left-hander went 7-11 on the season with a poor 5.33 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and only 108 strikeouts in 158 2/3 innings covering 27 starts. Richard wasn't much of a fantasy option and was really just a streaming option in NL-only leagues for the brave.

Spotted an early lead, San Diego Padres starter Clayton Richard imploded for seven earned runs in three innings Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Padres hung four in the top of the first inning but Richard couldn't hold the advantage, getting pulled after just 60 pitches. He gave up four hits and walked four, striking out three.
