Taylor will get the "bulk of the playing time" in left field for the Dodgers following the trade of AJ Pollock, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pollock was slated to open the season as the team's primary left fielder while Taylor was expected to rotate at different positions, but that plan has somewhat shifted with Pollock's move to Chicago. Taylor's versatility should still lead to him seeing time around the field, and Harris notes that Gavin Lux is also likely play some in left field, though not in a straight platoon. Taylor's fantasy managers should expect the utility man to get plenty of playing time this season.

Taylor (elbow) will start at second base and bat seventh in Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Reds, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
As anticipated, Taylor will make his return to the Cactus League lineup Tuesday after his right elbow checked out fine coming out of his appearance in a minor-league game Monday. Taylor, who had the elbow scoped in the offseason, has been eased along early in spring training following the procedure, but he'll still have ample time to get the at-bats he needs to guarantee his availability for Opening Day. The versatile Taylor should handle a near-everyday role once again in 2022 while bouncing between multiple positions, though second base looks to be his primary home when Los Angeles is at full strength.

Taylor (elbow) played second base in a minor-league game Monday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor had his right elbow scoped in November and has been brought along slowly to start camp. Barring setbacks, however, it looks as though he has plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day, as he's already playing in some capacity and is expected to play in a Cactus League game Thursday.

Manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Taylor has been ramping up slowly in spring training after getting his right elbow scoped in November, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Dodgers don't seem overly concerned about the issue, which Roberts called "minor." Taylor, who has thus far been limited to designated-hitter duties in Cactus League play, is expected to make his debut in the field at second base as soon as Thursday, which would leaving him enough time to get up to speed by Opening Day. If Taylor suffers any setbacks and is forced to miss time, Gavin Lux would likely see an uptick in playing time.

Taylor signed a contract with the Dodgers on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor declined the Dodgers' one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer in mid-November, but he'll return to the team after drawing interest from several clubs in free agency. According to Rosenthal, it's a four-year deal worth $60 million that includes a $13 million team option for 2026. The utility man slashed .254/.344/.438 with 20 homers, 92 runs, 73 RBI and 13 stolen bases across 148 games in 2021, and he should continue to see plenty of playing time during the 2022 campaign, particularly after Corey Seager signed with the Rangers.

Taylor declined the Dodgers' $18.4 million qualifying offer Monday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
$18.4 million is a lot for a player who's nominally a utility man, but Taylor is in the rare group of players who have transcended that label while still providing all the benefits a utility player usually provides. Taylor made at least seven starts at every position except pitcher, catcher and first base last season, all while hitting .254/.344/.438 (good for a 113 wRC+) with 20 homers and 13 steals. That flexibility means he fits on virtually every roster, so there should be plenty of competition for his services this winter.

The Dodgers extended a qualifying offer to Taylor on Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will have 10 days to decide whether to accept the one-year, $18.4 million offer from the Dodgers. While teammate Corey Seager is a lock to decline the qualifying offer, Taylor is more of a borderline case, as he may not make quite as much in 2022 if he seeks a long-term contract. Taylor, 31, hit .254/.344/.438 with 20 home runs, 13 steals and 3.1 fWAR in 148 games in 2021. He played at least 20 games at center field, left field, second base and shortstop while also seeing time at third base and in right field.

Taylor went 4-for-5 with three home runs and six RBI in the Dodgers' win over Atlanta in Game 5 of the NLCS on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor drove in a run in each of his four at-bats, three of which left the yard. Not only did he carry the Dodgers' offense in an elimination game, but he also set a team record for most total bases in a postseason contest, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Taylor now has at least one RBI in three of five games in the NLCS and is hitting .364 across 39 postseason plate appearances.

Taylor will start in center field in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Giants on Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Dodgers' offense was unable to generate much production in Game 1 of the NLDS, so manager Dave Roberts will put Taylor in the lineup in an attempt to generate a spark. Cody Bellinger will shift to first base, which means Matt Beaty will likely take on a bench role.

Thu 10/7/21 11:21 AM

Taylor went 1-for-2 with a walkoff two-run homer in Wednesday's wild-card win over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor didn't start the game but entered as part of a double switch in the seventh inning. He popped out in his first trip to the plate but was a hero in his second, sending a slider from Alex Reyes over the outfield wall with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Dodgers to the NLDS. He struggled down the stretch, hitting .108/.200/.169 over his last 25 games while battling a neck injury, but he still finished with a .782 OPS while starting at six different positions this season, so he should play a major role for the rest of the playoffs even if he doesn't start every game.
