Utley had just 10 hits in his previous 57 at-bats this spring, so he appears to be trending up at the right time. While Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard, the third-base situation and outfield depth have all been topics of concerns for Phillies followers this spring, Utley has quietly hit worse than anyone: he is 9-for-49 with just one extra-base hit (a double) and one walk. It's not like Utley is typically a slow starter, either: he finished with OPSs of .859 and .875 the last two springs. Right now he's at .420. We're not going to panic or anything, but it'd be nice to see him start to pick it up these next few days.
