Kuhl (5-5) pitched just two innings Thursday, allowing eight runs on eight hits and a walk in a 9-3 loss to Arizona. He struck out two and allowed two home runs.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to Thursday, Kuhl hadn't allowed more than four earned runs in any start this season, but he was absolutely torched in this one. Both Ketel Marte and Alex Avila tagged him for two-run shots. Kuhl's season ERA bounced up to 4.56 with a 77:31 K:BB in 81 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column next Tuesday against the Mets.

Kuhl will toe the rubber against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Kuhl won't be skipped in the rotation as manager Clint Hurdle elected to push everyone else back a day following Wednesday's postponement. Over 14 starts this year, Kuhl has logged a 3.76 ERA and 75:30 K:BB across 79 innings.

Kuhl's scheduled start against the Brewers has been postponed due to inclement weather, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There has been no make-up date announced at this point in time. The Pirates will announce the plan for their rotation in the coming hours but it seems likely that they will just push Kuhl back a day to face Arizona on Thursday.

Kuhl (5-4) picked up the win in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Reds, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks over six innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
It's the right-hander's first win in over a month, as Kuhl threw 65 of 93 pitches for strikes en route to his eighth quality start of the season. He'll take a 3.76 ERA into his next outing Wednesday at home against the Brewers.

Kuhl allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six across 5.1 innings Friday as he took the loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Kuhl put together a decent outing, but he didn't get enough run support to pick up the win. He surrendered three runs within the first two innings but managed to keep the Pirates within striking distance until he was lifted in the sixth inning. Kuhl has come across some tough luck over his last three starts, as he's 0-2 despite allowing just six runs across 17.1 innings. His next appearance figures to come Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Kuhl (4-3) took a no decision Saturday after allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings against the Cardinals. He recorded five strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Kuhl has now provided a quality start in four of his last five outings, but has only a single loss to show for it. The 25-year-old has a 3.86 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 63 strikeouts over 67.2 innings for the Pirates this season, and is next scheduled to start on the road against the Cubs next Friday.

Kuhl (4-3) allowed one run on four hits and four walks while striking out five through six innings Monday as he took the loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Kuhl surrendered just one run in Monday's outing, as he gave up a solo home run to Anthony Rizzo in the second inning. Despite allowing one run in each of his past two starts, Kuhl doesn't have a win to show for it. He sports a 3.94 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 58 strikeouts across 61.2 innings this season.

Kuhl allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over 4.1 innings while striking out five Thursday, but he didn't factor into the decision during the Pirates' victory over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander labored once again with 85 pitches and just 50 strikes as his ERA slipped to 4.53 for the season. Kuhl does have 47 strikeouts (8.5 per nine) in 49.2 frames, which could help him remain relevant in deeper leagues, but this is a profile that shouldn't be trusted on more than a streamer basis in most mixed formats. Though this rental didn't work out, his next assignment is tentatively a trip to Cincinnati, which might fit that category again.

Kuhl attributes his seven innings of one-hit, shutout pitching Sunday to improved mechanics and a greater reliance on off-speed offerings. "I think having the changeup, when I throw it well, I have to nail my checkpoints in my delivery," he told DK Pittsburgh Sports. "I think being able to execute the off-speed in hitters' counts was the biggest thing."
EDGE Analysis
Although he struggled with fastball command, Kuhl threw 17 changeups against the Brewers, as well as 15 sliders and 13 curveballs. The righty had totaled only 40 changeups in his first six starts. With starters Nick Kingham throwing well and Joe Musgrove (shoulder) expected back before June, Kuhl needs to pitch well to keep his spot in the rotation. "The last outing wasn't what we wanted," manager Clint Hurdle said. "This outing is a whole new recipe and it's effective, there's power there. It's a very good step forward for him."

Kuhl (4-2) allowed one hit while walking two and striking out eight across seven scoreless innings to earn the win Sunday against the Brewers
EDGE Analysis
Kuhl bounced back from his last start when he served up three home runs in a short outing by not allowing a runner to pass first base in his seven-inning effort Sunday. He wasn't particularly precise with his pitches, starting only eight of the 23 batters he faced with a strike and throwing only 61 strikes of 108 total pitches. However, he used a nice mix of breaking and off-speed pitches to keep the Brewers' lineup off balance. Kuhl's overall numbers are viable in many leagues, but he has been prone to blowup outings, having allowed four earned runs in three of his seven starts this season.
