Gonzalez was called up by the Cubs on Monday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez signed a minor-league contract Thursday just one day after being released by Cleveland and won't have to wait long to get another big-league opportunity. He'll likely be stuck in a bench role in Chicago and will have to hit better than the .210/.282/276 line he posted in Cleveland if he's to remain on the roster. Jim Adduci was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Gonzalez agreed to a minor-league contract with the Cubs on Thursday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez quickly found a new home after being released by the Indians on Wednesday. The veteran outfielder, who owns a lackluster .210/.282/.276 slash line in 30 games this season, will report to the minors for now, though he'll be a candidate to join the big club once he finds his footing.

Gonzalez was released by the Indians on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez will head to the open market after being designated for assignment by the Indians last week and subsequently passing through waivers untouched. Prior to parting ways with Cleveland, the veteran outfielder hit just .210/.282/.276 with a 28.2 percent strikeout rate in 117 plate appearances. Gonzalez will look to latch on elsewhere, though he may have to settle for a minor-league deal at this point in his career.

The Indians designated Gonzalez for assignment Wednesday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Just as they did with Hanley Ramirez earlier in the season, the Indians will cut ties with another multi-time All-Star on the downside of his career in Gonzalez. After being added to the roster in mid-April, Gonzalez struggled to provide a lift to a dormant Cleveland offense, slashing .210/.282/.276 over 117 plate appearances while striking out 28.2 percent of the time. Assuming no other clubs trade for or put in a waiver claim for Gonzalez, he'll likely be released by the Indians in the coming days.

Gonzalez is not in the lineup Tuesday against the White Sox, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez sits for just the second time in the last 22 games. He's hitting just .221/.272/.302 on the season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see his role decrease in the future. Oscar Mercado will make his MLB debut in left field.

Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, two runs scored and a walk Tuesday against the the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez took Sandy Alcantara deep in the third inning to give the Indians the lead for good. It was his second home run of the season, both of which have come in the last four games. He has no extra-base hits besides the two longballs, though he is 5-for-15 in his last four games and continues to get regular playing in the outfield and as designated hitter.

Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 6-3 win over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The former Rockie took Collin McHugh deep in the fourth inning for his first homer in a Cleveland uniform. Gonzalez is now slashing .257/.333/.343 through nine games, and it remains to be seen what kind of power he'll be available to provide without the benefit of playing his home games at Coors Field.

Gonzalez is out of the lineup for the first game of the Indians' doubleheader against the Braves on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez started three of the Tribe's four games following his April 14 promotion, going 3-for-14 with three runs and five strikeouts in those contests. Though he's been deployed in left field on each of those occasions, he could see more work at designated hitter moving forward after the Tribe designated Hanley Ramirez for assignment Saturday.

Gonzalez is starting in left field and will bat third in Monday's game against the Mariners, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monday marks Gonzalez's second consecutive start since joining the Indians, and at this point, it looks as though Tyler Naquin could be headed for a bench role moving forward. Gonzalez went 1-for-5 in Sunday's contest and will face the lefty Yusei Kikuchi in the series opener.

The Indians selected Gonzalez's contract from Triple-A Columbus ahead of Sunday's game against the Royals. He'll start in left field and bat third in the series finale.
EDGE Analysis
The addition of Gonzalez will result in Hanley Ramirez dropping out of the lineup, but Tyler Naquin could be at more risk of surrendering his everyday role now that the former Rockie is up with the big club. While Gonzalez's best years are likely behind him, he still might represent an upgrade over Naquin against right-handed pitching. Gonzalez managed an .828 OPS versus righties a season ago, a steady uptick from Naquin's career .789 mark in matchups with right-handers.
