Doval struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save Monday night against Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
Doval looked shaky for a moment against his first batter of the night, firing three straight balls before battling back to retire Hunter Renfroe on a flyout to center. He would then register a strikeout and a groundout to end the contest. Doval benefitted from the Giants taking a late lead in this one, as San Francisco deployed Jake McGee in the bottom of the eighth in a game where McGee would give up the lead, and Doval ended up receiving the save opportunity following a two-run blast in the top of the ninth by the Giants. While Doval figures to continue to share save chances with McGee going forward, he does lead the club with four saves to McGee's two.

Doval allowed one hit and struck out one across a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Saturday against Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Doval had a three-run cushion to work with, though he was never in danger. He allowed a single to the second batter he faced, but he still needed only 16 pitches to record his third save of the season. Doval is sharing save chances with Jake McGee, though he has now turned in six consecutive scoreless outings to make his case for a larger share of the closer role.

Doval allowed a hit in a shutout inning Friday, striking out one and earning a save against the Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Jose Ramirez knocked a one-out double but Doval was able to shut the threat down and preserve the 4-1 win. He's now earned a save in back-to-back outings and has a 4.1 inning scoreless streak after coughing up three runs and blowing a chance against Miami on April 8. The 24-year-old is sporting a 5.06 ERA with a 5:2 K:BB.

Doval allowed a hit, a walk, and a hit batsman in one inning while striking out two to earn his first save in a 2-1 win Wednesday over San Diego.
EDGE Analysis
After loading the bases with two outs, Doval struck out Matt Beaty to end the game. It was his first save opportunity since his Opening Day blown save. Of the three save opportunities the Giants have had so far, Doval has been called upon twice with Dominic Leone receiving the other chance. Doval has now pitched in four of the first five games and, while it's unclear who the primary closer for San Francisco is, he is certainly in the mix.

Doval gave up three runs on three hits in one inning during Friday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
After Tyler Rogers had gotten the final two outs of the seventh inning and Jake McGee worked a scoreless eighth to protect a Giants lead, Doval got the call for the team's first save opportunity of the season. The young right-hander blew it in spectacular fashion, with Miami's rally being capped by a two-run blast from Jazz Chisholm, but San Francisco was able to tie it back up in the bottom of the ninth and win it in the 10th to take Doval off the hook for a loss. Manager Gabe Kapler suggested late in spring training that McGee would get most of the saves this season, and Friday's performance didn't do much for Doval's chances of changing that.

Doval will be part of the Giants' closer committee in 2022, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Gabe Kapler often uses the modern approach to the ninth inning, deploying a committee instead of having one designated closer. Jake McGee and Tyler Rogers will also get work in late-inning situations this season, but Doval is less of a known quantity. The 24-year-old right-hander averaged 98.7 mph on his fastball last season while posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 37:9 K:BB across 27 innings. His hard-throwing ways are well-suited to closing games out even if he's the least experienced of the three relievers most likely to earn saves for the Giants.

Doval logged two perfect innings while striking out one en route to the save in Monday's Game 3 win over the Dodgers in the NLDS.
EDGE Analysis
Doval finished the regular season with 17-straight appearances without allowing an earned run, striking out 27 in 17.1 innings over that stretch. He will be a trendy mid-round closer option in 2022 redraft roto leagues.

Doval struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save over San Diego on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander needed only 11 pitches (eight of which were strikes) to set the Padres down in order and register his third save in four days. Over that stretch, he has struck out five batters and allowed only one baserunner over three scoreless frames. Doval's dominance in his brief time as the team's closer could provide some intrigue with Jake McGee (oblique) -- who has done well as the team's primary closer throughout the campaign -- on the verge of being activated.

Doval earned the save against Arizona on Wednesday, pitching a perfect ninth inning during which he struck out two batters.
EDGE Analysis
Doval was called upon to protect a 1-0 lead in a contest with significant playoff implications. The rookie handled the high-pressure situation with ease, needing only 10 pitches to set the side down in order. With Jake McGee (oblique) on the injured list, Doval has stepped up to record the save each of the past two days. His opportunity has been well-earned, as the right-hander has yet to allow a run while registering an impressive 16:3 K:BB across 12.1 innings in September.

Doval pitched a scoreless ninth inning on his way to a save in Tuesday's 6-4 victory over the Diamondbacks. He allowed one hit and struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old was called upon to close this one out after Tyler Rogers pitched the eighth. He allowed a one-out double to Geraldo Perdomo but set down the next two batters to end the contest. The save was the first of Doval's young career. Since being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sept. 5, he has tossed 11.1 scoreless innings while striking out 14 with a 4-0 record and now a save.
