Doval pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out a batter on his way to a save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Doval was called upon to protect a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth inning, but he quickly ran into some trouble. After getting Riley Greene to ground out to open the frame, the closer allowed two consecutive hits before walking Eric Haase to load the bases with one out. Fortunately, Doval was able to get Miguel Cabrera to strike out before inducing a game-ending ground out by Harold Castro, finishing the outing unscathed. The save was his 18th of the season and he has now converted 10 straight opportunities. Doval has now gone 10 straight appearances without allowing an earned run, lowering his ERA from 3.21 to 2.58 over that stretch.

EDGE Analysis
Doval delivered a clean ninth inning on seven pitches to send the game to extras before surrendering a walkoff Brendan Rodgers single with one out in the 10th. The outing accounted for the 25-year-old's first negative result in his last eight appearances and first loss since July 14. He failed to record a strikeout for the first time since July 29 though he's still whiffed an impressive 61 batters in 50.1 innings.

Doval (4-5) earned the win during Sunday's 8-7 victory over Pittsburgh, allowing an unearned run on two hits and a walk in one inning. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Doval was brought in for the ninth inning of a 6-6 game despite pitching Friday and Saturday and found himself in a two-on one-out jam after a Bryan Reynolds single and Ben Gamel walk. A subsequent infield single and Evan Longoria throwing error allowed Reynolds to score while Gamel was thrown out at the plate. Doval struck out Oneil Cruz to end the frame and became the victor when San Francisco walked it off in the bottom of the inning. The 25-year-old tossed 44 pitches across three appearances this weekend, during which he allowed four baserunners and an unearned run while striking out three across three innings.

Doval struck out one batter in a perfect inning and earned a save over the Padres on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Doval faced the toughest section of San Diego's lineup and had no difficulty retiring Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Josh Bell in order. The 25-year-old flamethrower has posted a 2.77 ERA while converting all seven of his save opportunities since his last blown chance May 31. Doval picked up the save Sunday in Oakland, striking out one and allowing a walk and a hit in the ninth inning of a 6-4 victory.
EDGE Analysis
Doval got into trouble to start the inning with two on and only one out but managed to strike out Seth Brown and get Jed Lowrie to groundout to end it. It was his 14th save in 16 attempts this season and just his second save since the beginning of July. The lack of saves recently has more to do with the Giants slumping than Doval's performance as he's posted a 3.09 ERA and 17:6 K:BB since the beginning of July. For the season, the 25-year-old has a 3.00 ERA, matching his rate from last season, and a solid 57:19 K:BB in 45 innings.
