Cameron Maybin (biceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso on Friday.
Maybin played in a few extended spring training games with no issues, clearing the way for the rehab assignment. The outfielder missed most of spring training due to a ruptured left biceps tendon, so he'll need a good number of rehab at-bats. Still, he should rejoin the Padres before the end of the month.

Cameron Maybin (biceps) will hit on the field this weekend in Arizona.
Maybin stayed behind to continue rehabbing while his team left for San Diego, and he's been hitting in the batting cage for the past week. He'll likely hit off teammate Casey Kelly as part of a simulated game. It's unclear what the next step is, but Maybin could be back with the club by early May.

Padres placed OF Cameron Maybin on the 15-day disabled list with a ruptured left biceps tendon.
Maybin was given a 2-to-3 month recovery time after the injury, but Padres general manager Josh Byrnes put a more optimistic timetable of four to six weeks after it was found he wouldn't need surgery. Maybin is already back in the batting cage taking cuts, so a late April or early May return isn't out of the question.

Cameron Maybin (biceps) has begun taking swings in the batting cage.
Maybin was diagnosed with a ruptured left biceps tendon on March 3, but the injury didn't require surgery. After taking a few weeks off, Maybin is back taking some swings. It's a good sign, as Maybin could be closer to return in six weeks rather than the original 2-3 month diagnosis.

Padres general manager Josh Byrnes said Thursday that Cameron Maybin (biceps) could return in as soon as 4-6 weeks.
He was originally supposed to miss 2-3 months, but the Padres are feeling much more optimistic about Maybin's status after it was determined he wouldn't need surgery to repair his ruptured left biceps tendon. "Our doctors saw his diagnostics and talked to Cam and decided [recovery] will be healing and the rehab route before we get him back to activity," Byrnes said. "But the strong consensus was no surgery."

Cameron Maybin will not require surgery to repair a ruptured left biceps tendon and could return sooner than the initially projected 2-3 month timetable.
MLB.com's Corey Brock says there's a "sense of relief" from the Padres regarding Maybin's diagnosis. While the outfielder still seems likely to miss most, if not all, of April, this certainly qualifies as good news. Maybin was limited to just 14 games last season because of wrist and knee problems.

Padres general manager Josh Byrnes said that he will consult further with the team's medical staff before a decision is made on whether Cameron Maybin (biceps) will undergo surgery.
Byrnes noted that Maybin's ruptured left biceps tendon is an atypical baseball injury, so the Padres are trying to gather as much information as possible. It was reported earlier Monday that Maybin will be sidelined 2-3 months, though it's possible that timetable will fluctuate depending on whether an operation is required.

Cameron Maybin has been diagnosed with a ruptured left biceps tendon and will miss 2-3 months.
Maybin landed awkwardly on his left arm Sunday while attempting a diving catch in a Cactus League game and an MRI taken Monday revealed the rupture. It's another injury-related blow for the once-promising 26-year-old outfielder, who appeared in just 14 games last season because of wrist and knee problems. He can go undrafted in standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Padres manager Bud Black said Monday that Cameron Maybin (shoulder) will not be ready for Opening Day.
Maybin injured his left shoulder and biceps Sunday while making a diving catch in a Cactus League game. He underwent an MRI on Monday to determine the exact severity. The snakebitten 26-year-old outfielder was limited to 14 games in 2013 and can be ignored in most standard mixed league drafts this spring. The speed upside isn't worth the wasted roster spot.

Cameron Maybin will undergo an MRI on his injured shoulder on Monday.
Maybin was pulled from Sunday's Cactus League tilt against the Reds after he made an awkward diving catch in the third inning. The former highly-touted prospect has seen his fair share of the disabled list over the years, and could be heading back there to begin the 2014 season.
