Anderson went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Not much went right for the Marlins on Opening Day, but Anderson's performance was a rare bright spot. There are questions about the 24-year-old's ultimate fantasy upside given that his stroke seems more geared to line drives than homers, which likely restricts his utility to deep mixed and NL-only formats, but the rebuilding franchise will give Anderson every chance to prove himself in 2018.

Anderson will start at third base and bat fifth in Thursday's season opener against the Cubs, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
It became apparent Anderson would break camp as the Marlins' primary third baseman once Martin Prado (knee) incurred a setback in mid-March that ultimately resulted in the veteran opening the season on the disabled list. Prado is tentatively in line to rejoin the Marlins around mid-April, but his ability to play the corner outfield could allow Anderson to hang on to an everyday role if the 24-year-old's performance warrants it. Anderson doesn't offer much power from the corner infield, but he displayed a solid hit tool throughout his minor-league career and during his brief time with the Marlins last season, which could allow him to maintain a serviceable batting average.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly confirmed Wednesday that Anderson would open the season as the team's everyday third baseman after Martin Prado (knee) suffered a setback that will result in the veteran heading to the disabled list, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to experienced renewed soreness in the back of his surgically repaired right knee during a workout Tuesday, Prado hadn't appeared in any Grapefruit League games and was always facing an uphill battle to be ready for Opening Day. Prado's setback should at least give Anderson a little more leash in the full-time role, which the 24-year-old may have been able to earn outright in any case due to his strong performance at the dish in spring training. Anderson has maintained a .400 on-base percentage through 14 Grapefruit League appearances and has notched five extra-base hits, including two home runs. Fantasy owners throwing a late-round dart on Anderson shouldn't expect much in terms of power, but the youngster offers a solid batting-average floor due to his line-drive tendencies and could be a better-than-expected source of runs if his on-base skills earn him a spot in the top half of the order.

Anderson went 2-for-2 with a walk, a double, a home run, three runs scored and three RBI in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
It's his second homer and third double of the spring, giving Anderson a robust .640 SLG through 13 games, but perhaps more impressive has been his 7:5 BB:K after he struck out 29.5 percent of the time in his big-league debut last year. Martin Prado (knee) is still expected to be healthy by Opening Day, but the veteran may have to settle for a bench role with the 24-year-old Anderson making a strong case for the starting job at third base.

Anderson went 1-for-2 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
He's got only two hits in his first 11 spring at-bats, but both have gone for extra bases, with Friday's homer being his first of the year. Anderson will need a big camp, or for Martin Prado (knee) to remain on the shelf, to win the Opening Day starting job at third base, but once Prado proves he's healthy he could well join the veteran exodus out of Miami. Either way, the 24-year-old Anderson figures to be the future at the hot corner for the Marlins.

Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill said that Anderson remains behind Martin Prado (knee) at third base heading into this spring, Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even though Prado is recovering from a late-July scope of his right knee, Hill stated that Anderson is "behind Prado for now" and will not move over to second base. At this point, Prado is expected to return to action around the middle of March, which would give him a few weeks to get back into the swing of things before Opening Day. Obviously in the event that he's unable to get healthy, Anderson will take over the starting gig at the beginning of the season. Furthermore, Anderson could change the organization's opinion with a solid spring camp. This is a situation to monitor throughout the Grapefruit League, and either way, Anderson should receive plenty of at-bats in 2018 as the Marlins head into a new era.

Anderson went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored in the Marlins' 10-2 rout of the Braves on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The top prospect continues to thrive in an everyday role for Miami, as he now holds a .275/.352/.388 slash line in 24 games this season. Anderson certainly has proven his worth, but with Martin Prado (knee) likely manning the hot corner again in 2018, the 24-year-old will have to make quite the case during spring training if he wants to carve out a role in the big leagues at the start of next season.

Anderson is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Braves, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson will stick on the bench for a second straight game as Derek Dietrich draws another start at the hot corner in his place. The 24-year-old has held his own in his first major-league stint, slashing .268/.346/.366 in 21 games while serving as the Marlins' primary third baseman over the past few weeks.

Anderson is not in the lineup against Colorado on Wednesday, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson heads to the bench after going 1-for-3 during Tuesday's loss as Derek Dietrich takes his place at third base. Over the course of his 20 games with the big-league club, Anderson is slashing .261/.342/.348 with five extra-base hits and six RBI.

Anderson is out of the lineup Monday against the Rockies, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since the start of September, Anderson has been operating as Miami's primary third baseman. Since the start of the month he's hit .258/.342/.348. Strikeouts have been a challenge for him, as he's struck out 20 times over 75 plate appearances. He'll sit out Monday while Derek Dietrich heads to the hot corner.
