According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Athletics will be willing to trade Brandon McCarthy (shoulder) once he's healthy.
McCarthy is currently on the disabled list for the second time this season due to shoulder issues, so he'll need to prove his health in order to attract interest leading up to the deadline. The 28-year-old has been excellent when healthy this season, posting a 2.54 ERA and 52/19 K/BB ratio over 78 innings. He's making $4.275 million this season and will hit free agency this winter.

Brandon McCarthy (shoulder) acknowledged Thursday that he expects to be sidelined through the All-Star break.
McCarthy was placed on the disabled list last week due to a right shoulder strain. While his recovery is going well, it will not be a minimum stint like last time. The rookie A.J. Griffin should get a couple more starts during his absence and is worth owning in AL-only leagues.

Athletics placed RHP Brandon McCarthy on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 20, with right shoulder soreness.
It's not clear at this point how much time McCarthy will need on the DL this time around, but it probably won't again be a minimum stint. The right-hander has pitched well when able to take the mound, but his shoulder issues have been ongoing, and an extended period of rest might be what he needs. A.J. Griffin has replaced him in the rotation.

After missing an outing due to shoulder soreness, Brandon McCarthy allowed only two hits in hurling seven shutout innings in a victory over the Dodgers.
He struck out five and walked one. An MRI on McCarthy's shoulder revealed no structural damage, allowing him to avoid the disabled list for the second time this season. We were concerned -- as we imagine you were as well, consider McCarthy's injury history -- but the veteran put all doubts to rest tonight. The 28-year-old right-hander has posted a 2.54 ERA in 78 innings this season and is a must-start in all formats.

Athletics manager Bob Melvin said he's "more hopeful it's a non-DL situation" with Brandon McCarthy (shoulder).
McCarthy played catch Wednesday without any issues and should throw a bullpen session soon. An MRI on his shoulder revealed no structural damage, but we still can't help but be concerned about an issue that has been ongoing for the right-hander. McCarthy figures to have success when on the mound, but it remains to be seen how long he'll manage to stay healthy before his shoulder problems crop up again. It's not clear when he'll make his next start.

Brandon McCarthy (shoulder) will play catch Thursday.
If it goes well, the righty should avoid another stint on the 15-day disabled list. An MRI taken Wednesday on McCarthy's ailing throwing shoulder ruled out structural damage, so it's merely about getting over the soreness.

An MRI taken Wednesday on Brandon McCarthy's right shoulder ruled out any structural damage.
The A's are optimistic that McCarthy will be able to avoid another stint on the 15-day disabled list. He'll presumably try to throw a bullpen session later this week to test the shoulder. The 28-year-old right-hander has posted a 2.79 ERA in 71 innings this season.

Brandon McCarthy has been scratched from his scheduled Wednesday start due to shoulder soreness.
McCarthy is headed back to the Bay Area to get an MRI on his right shoulder. He missed 15 days earlier this year with a similar issue and seems likely to be placed back on the shelf. The 28-year-old right-hander has registered a 2.79 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 71 innings this season.
