Athletics placed INF Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list with a dislocated shoulder. Inge suffered the injury on Saturday and has battled soreness since. The veteran third baseman will aim to return as soon as his 15 days are up. He is batting .224/.285/.384 with 11 home runs and 50 RBI through 309 plate appearances with Oakland.

Inge did drive in 17 runs last month, but he's hitting .215 in 107 at-bats since coming off the DL at the end of May. The A's will have little reason to stick with him at third base once they admit they're not in the running for a wild card spot.
