Ziegler (1-4) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk to blow his fifth save of the season during Thursday's loss to Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
With Kyle Barraclough pitching extremely well -- 1.38 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 13.8 K/9 since returning from the disabled list Aug. 15 -- and a potential closer replacement for Ziegler, the 37-year-old veteran is treading in dangerous waters. Ziegler sports an underwhelming 5.04 ERA, WHIP and 5.0 K/9 for the campaign, and he's now blown consecutive save opportunities.

Ziegler allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while recording a blown save and a loss Friday against the Phillies. He recorded one strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
With men on first and third with one out, Ziegler allowed an RBI single to Jorge Alfaro and an RBI groundout from Andres Blanco for the go-ahead tally. This meltdown was out of character for the veteran, who didn't allow a single run across 13 appearances in August. Ziegler should be secure in his role moving forward.

Ziegler tossed a perfect ninth inning Friday to collect his ninth save of the season in an 8-6 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
He's now 9-for-9 in save chances with a 0.00 ERA since taking over the Marlins' closer role at the beginning of August. Ziegler has never had overpowering stuff, but his deceptive submarine delivery remains effective in his 10th MLB season.

Ziegler tossed a clean ninth inning in Thursday's win over the Phillies to earn his eighth save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Ziegler has yet to allow a run in the month of August, and he's a perfect eight-for-eight in save opportunities since taking over as Marlins' closer at the beginning of the month. He still owns an unimpressive 4.85 ERA and 21:14 K:BB through 39 innings this season, but the Marlins are making a late playoff push, so he should continue to see save chances over the final month of the season.

Ziegler allowed a hit and hit a batter in a scoreless ninth inning during the nightcap of Tuesday's doubleheader to record his seventh save of the season in a 7-4 win over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
His ERA in August remains a pristine 0.00, and Ziegler has yet to blow a save since being entrusted with the closer role following the A.J. Ramos trade. The veteran reliever doesn't offer the strikeout appeal of elite closing options, but with the Marlins trying to stay relevant in the NL wild-card race, he should continue to rack up saves down the stretch.

Zieglar worked around a hit with one strikeout in a scoreless inning to earn his sixth save of the season Sunday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Zieglar allowed a one-out single but was able to sit down the next two batters he faced to close out a two-run win. He has seemingly settled into his new role of late, tossing eight consecutive scoreless innings and converting all six of his save opportunities during that span. Ziegler makes for a worthy fantasy add in his current form, despite his unsightly 5.11 ERA for the season.

Ziegler pitched a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his fifth save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
He needed only seven pitches to retire the side on two groundouts and a pop-up. Ziegler has now converted all five of his save chances and delivered seven straight scoreless appearances since being named the Marlins closer at the beginning of August, but his weak 3:1 K:BB on the month suggests he's been at least as lucky as he's been good.

Ziegler pitched a scoreless inning on one hit and one walk while striking out one to record his fourth save Saturday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Ziegler was protecting a one-run lead, and was able to close out the contest despite making it a bit dramatic. He's converted each of his four save opportunities this month, and despite his unimpressive ERA, he has clear fantasy value as the Marlins' closer.

Ziegler allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his third save of the season in a 6-3 win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
He's been effective since coming off the DL at the beginning of August and taking over ninth-inning duties from A.J. Ramos, tossing four scoreless innings in four appearances and converting all three of his save chances. Ziegler's 19:13 K:BB in 33 innings on the year is far from elite, but as long as he keeps getting the job done the veteran reliever should be able to retain the closer role even after Kyle Barraclough (shoulder) gets healthy.

Ziegler pitched a scoreless ninth inning to collect his second save of the season during Sunday's win over the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
With A.J. Ramos off to the Mets, Ziegler has taken over the interim closing duties for the Marlins. Ziegler has struggled this season with a 6.10 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 5.2 K/9, so his fantasy upside is probably capped, and his job isn't likely that secure. However, as long as the veteran is receiving save opportunities, he's worth a roster spot in all fantasy formats. It's worth noting that Kyle Barraclough (shoulder) could enter the closer conversation once healthy, though.
