Ziegler tossed a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Friday against the Braves, allowing one hit while issuing no walks and no strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Ziegler got Freddie Freeman to ground out, and then worked around a single by Nick Markakis by getting Tyler Flowers to ground into a game-ending double play. Ziegler has had scoreless outings in seven of his last nine appearances, and is now 8-for-8 in save chances on the year. On April 25 the veteran reliever's ERA stood at 8.44, and he's now worked it down to 5.59. Ziegler is still giving up too many hits for comfort (24 hits in 19.1 innings), but he's also allowed just two walks on the year.

Ziegler allowed a run on one hit in an inning of work, recording one strikeout en route to his sixth save of the season Monday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Ziegler allowed a solo home run to Cody Bellinger, but he still enjoyed a two-run cushion and closed out the game without further incident. The veteran continues to see save opportunities -- he's recorded five in as many tries since Apr. 24 -- but his 6.23 ERA indicates he could eventually lose the closer's role if he doesn't round into form. Ziegler is still yet to blow a save opportunity, however, and should continue to have the first crack at opportunities in the short term.

Ziegler pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save Friday against the Braves, issuing no strikeouts and no walks while allowing one hit.
EDGE Analysis
Ziegler induced two groundouts to open the ninth, then gave up a single before getting Ozzie Albies to line out to end the game. Ziegler has allowed a run to score in just one of his last six outings, but still holds an unsightly 6.06 ERA. Nonetheless, he's 6-for-6 in save chances and has an excellent 12:2 K:BB in 16.1 innings. Those numbers are slightly undercut by the .300 batting average against, but he remains the best option for saves out of the Marlins' bullpen.

Ziegler tossed 0.2 scoreless innings and struck out one as he picked up the save in Sunday's 8-5 victory over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Ziegler came in to retire the final two batters after the Reds pushed across two runs to begin the ninth inning. Although he's yet to blow a save, Ziegler is 0-3 with a 6.28 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 14.1 innings of work out of the bullpen. Despite a disastrous ERA, he hasn't allowed a run in his last four appearances, so it appears he's trending in the right direction.

Zieger allowed a hit while striking out two in the ninth inning of Sunday's win over the Rockies to record his third save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Ziegler looked good in his first appearance since allowing three earned runs in an inning of work Wednesday against the Dodgers. Despite his encouraging performance Sunday, the veteran righty is averaging less than a strikeout per inning and currently holds a 7.71 ERA on the year. He should notch more save opportunities moving forward but could definitely hurt fantasy owners' ERA and WHIP totals in the process. He's a very low-end risk/reward fantasy closing option.

Ziegler did not pitch in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Rockies, with Kyle Barraclough getting the save instead, and Marlins manager Don Mattingly said after the game that Ziegler "was not 100 percent today", ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
"[Ziegler] could have went," Mattingly said. "I trust all those guys out there. It was just a night when he was not feeling 100 percent. I knew it was a situation where the other guys were. I just really want to go with the guys who are 100 percent." It's hard to tell from Mattingly's statement whether Ziegler is nursing a minor injury, fighting a bug, or just not pitching well, but his 8.44 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in 10.2 innings this year certainly support the latter theory. If that's the case, Barraclough and potentially Drew Steckenrider will likely begin phasing Ziegler out of the closer role, but given how rarely the Marlins win, it could be a while before this situation becomes clear.

Ziegler nailed down his second save of the year in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers, pitching a perfect ninth with no walks and no strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Ziegler induced two groudouts and a flyout to seal the win for the Marlins, needing only eight pitches to end the frame. It hasn't been a pretty start to the season for the veteran reliever, as he's allowed runs to score in four of his nine appearances so far, giving up 13 hits in 9.2 innings. Ziegler hasn't blown a save opportunity yet. He's just not getting many save chances on a re-building Marlins club that sits at 6-17 on the year.

Ziegler served up a solo home run to Miguel Andujar in an inning of work during Tuesday's 9-1 win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
He did strike out two batters, but Ziegler's inability to complete the shutout for the Marlins stood out on a night when his setup crew of Tayron Guerrero, Drew Steckenrider and Kyle Barraclough combined for three scoreless innings and six Ks. Ziegler did successfully convert his only save chance so far this season, but he's been scored upon in three straight appearances and his 8.22 ERA and 1.70 WHIP through 7.2 innings will need to come down rapidly if he wants to hang onto his ninth-inning duties.

Ziegler (0-3) allowed one earned run on three hits and took the loss Saturday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
For the second straight appearance, Ziegler entered the game in a non-save situation in an effort to send the game into extra innings. In each instance, he has failed to do so. However, he wasn't hit hard as two of the three hits he surrendered came on bunts. While he lacks the ability to generate strikeouts, Ziegler has kept the ball on the ground, with 20 of his 26 batted balls being groundballs. It remains to be seen how Don Mattingly views Ziegler's recent performances, but if he keeps his role as closer it is one of the more precariously held positions in the league.

Ziegler (0-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk and took the loss Tuesday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't a save situation for Ziegler, but he pitched the ninth inning in an effort to send the game to extra innings. Instead, he allowed a two run double to Yoenis Cespedes. This likely isn't the impetus Don Mattingly needs to take him out of the closer role given that Kyle Barraclough surrendered a two-run home run to Asdrubal Cabrera in the eighth. As a result, Ziegler remains a low-end option to collect saves.
