Another day, another save for the dominant right-hander, who has continued his torrid pace and ridiculous numbers coming off his All-Star first half of the season. He now has 30 saves to go along with his fabulous 0.92 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 79 strikeouts over 59 innings. At this point, he's got a solid argument as the best closer in the game aside from Seattle's Edwin Diaz, and he's showing no signs of slowing down.

Treinen locked down the save Wednesday, working a scoreless inning with a strikeout and a walk against the Tigers.

Treinen allowed a one-out walk to Yasiel Puig, but he was able to work around it to lock down his 29th save. The 30-year-old continues to be a dominant force out of the backend of the Oakland bullpen, posting a terrific 0.93 ERA and 0.97 WHIP to go along with 11.8 K/9.

Treinen allowed one hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning against the Tigers on Saturday en route to his 28th save of the season.

He pumped in nine of 12 pitches for strikes to pick up his first save of August. Treinen had a couple blown saves late in July, but his overall body of work this season is beyond impressive. With a 0.95 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 28 saves, five wins and 75 strikeouts, Treinen has been the second-most valuable reliever in fantasy to date behind only Edwin Diaz.

Treinen grabbed his 26th save in a win over the Rangers on Wednesday, striking out the side on 12 pitches in a perfect ninth inning.

EDGE Analysis

Treinen mowed through the trio of Robinson Chirinos, Ryan Rua and Carlos Tocci in his one frame, slamming the door after Khris Davis had slugged a two-out, two-run, go-ahead home run in the top half of the ninth. The right-hander has quickly rebounded from a blown save Saturday against the Giants, posting back-to-back saves over the first last two nights against the Rangers.

Treinen struck out one in a clean 10th inning Tuesday to secure the save against the Rangers.

Treinen entered the game in the 10th with a three-run lead and shut down the Rangers to earn his 25th save of the year. Treinen had blown two of his last three save chances recently but was back in form in Tuesday's outing. He sports a superb 1.06 ERA and 0.98 WHIP while holding opponents to a .169 batting average. The right-hander also carries a 65:18 K:BB in 51 innings and is 25-for-29 in save opportunities this year.

Treinen was charged with his fourth blown save of the season in an extra-innings win over the Giants on Saturday, allowing an earned run on a hit, two walks and a wild pitch over two innings. He also recorded three strikeouts.

EDGE Analysis

It was a rare stumble for the Treinen, who'd been brought on in his customary ninth-inning role to preserve a 3-2 lead. The frame started out positively enough with Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval both being retired on groundouts, but Allen Hanson was able to reach on a swinging strike three due to Treinen's wild pitch. A Hunter Pence double then plated the game-tying run, ultimately sending the game into extras. Given his overall success this season, Treinen is still likely to serve as the Athletics' primary closer in the wake of the acquisition of Jeurys Familia from the Mets, but he could yield occasional save opportunities to the latter in the second half.

Treinen worked a scoreless ninth to pick up his 20th save of the season Thursday against the Tigers.

The veteran has surrendered all of two earned runs over his last 16 appearances, a stretch that dates back to May 15. Moreover, he's enhanced his already robust fantasy value by also notching four wins alongside his 18 saves, sparkling ERA and equally impressive 0.90 WHIP.

Treinen recorded his 17th save of the season Saturday against the White Sox. He struck out a pair in 1.2 innings and did not allow a hit or a walk.

Treinen came into the game with one out in the bottom of the eighth, trying to preserve a one-run lead with a man on second base. He got out of the eighth with a strikeout and a groundout. Two batters reached in the ninth inning on errors, but Treinen shut the door by getting Matt Davidson to ground into a double play. The outing lowered his ERA to a stellar 0.98, and he's striking out 11.1 batters per nine innings, making him one of the top closers in the game right now.
