The Mets are finally fully healthy after being decimated by injuries early in the season, leading to McKinney losing his spot on the 40-man roster. He was a solid fill-in during his time in New York with a .220/.304/.4.73 slash line with five homers, 14 RBI and 15 runs in 39 games, and he could be claimed off waivers by another outfield-needy team. J.D. Davis (hand) was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Atlanta hasn't announced whether lefty Kyle Muller or righty Ian Anderson will serve as its starting pitcher for Game 1, but the lefty-hitting McKinney will nonetheless find himself on the bench for the third game in a row. McKinney has sat against a pair of southpaws (Jon Lester and Patrick Corbin) the past two days, so he would still seem to have a hold on a strong-side platoon role in the corner outfield for now. McKinney will presumably shift into a reserve role when Michael Conforto (hamstring) and Brandon Nimmo (finger) are likely reinstated from the injured list by the end of the week.

McKinney was a late scratch from Saturday's lineup against the Padres, but given Rojas's postgame update, it doesn't appear that the knee issue is serious. The 26-year-old will be further evaluated Sunday, but at this point he seems unlikely to land on the IL.

McKinney had one of the best offensive performances of his career and now has seven homers on the year -- he launched a solo shot in the fifth inning and later added a two-run blast in the ninth. It's worth noting McKinney has also hit safely in three of the Mets' last four games, and he is taking advantage of the uptick in playing time as his role has been a bit inconsistent over the last few weeks.
