Bartolo Colon bounced back Tuesday, surrendering three runs -- one earned -- and striking out nine over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays. He gave up five hits and two walks. It was a very encouraging outing after the big man had allowed 13 runs -- eight earned -- over his last two starts spanning just 6 1/3 innings. Colon blamed his struggles Thursday on being tentative because he was thinking about his previously injured hamstring too much, but added that he was feeling better, a sentiment he put to practice on Tuesday. He's now 6-6 with a 3.34 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.

Bartolo Colon blamed his struggles Thursday on being tentative because he was thinking about his previously injured hamstring too much. "There is no pain at all, but every time I react and cover the base I get nervous about it," said Colon. "I think my sinker isn't sinking because I am thinking too much." Colon, who gave up eight runs - three earned -- over just 2/3 of an inning Thursday, added that he is "feeling really good" at the moment but that he'll reserve judgment until finding out how he feels Friday. We're guessing the Yankees might run some tests on his hamstring just to be sure.

Bartolo Colon failed to make it through the first inning Thursday, allowing eight runs - three earned -- on six hits and two walks over 2/3 of an inning in a loss to the Blue Jays. Ouch. To make matters worse, all eight of the runs came home with two outs, with five of them touching home plate after an Eduardo Nunez error extended the inning. Colon was terrific in his first start back from the disabled list earlier this month, but he's now been pummeled the last two times out to push his ERA from 2.88 up to 3.47. It's not time to cut bait just yet, but it's possible the window on his mixed league value may be closing. He'll face the Rays the next time out.

Bartolo Colon struggled through his worst outing as a Yankee Thursday, giving up five runs on 10 hits and four walks over just 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Rays. Both Ben Zobrist and B.J. Upton took Colon deep. The big man had a couple clunkers back in May but for the most part has been remarkably consistent since being thrust into the Yankees rotation, so it's disappointing to see him head into the All-Star break on a sour note. He still has an impressive 3.20 ERA and 1.14 WHIP for the season.

Yankees activated RHP Bartolo Colon from the 15-day disabled list. Colon will get the ball Saturday against the Mets. The 38-year-old right-hander didn't go out on a rehab assignment, but the Yanks deemed him ready for action after a 60-pitch simulated game where he also practiced bunting. Colon posted a 3.10 ERA before landing on the DL.

There is a "good likelihood" Bartolo Colon (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list to start Saturday against the Mets, according to Yankees GM Brian Cashman. Colon tossed 60 pitches Tuesday in a simulated game and practiced bunting drills Monday in preparation for taking the mound in a National League park (i.e. Citi Field). The big right-hander has been sidelined since June 12 with a left hamstring strain and will return to a stellar 3.10 ERA.

Bartolo Colon (hamstring) will be in New York on Wednesday to have his leg evaluated by team physician Dr. Chris Ahmad. The concern for me is not his arm, it's to make sure his leg is healed, and that we'll check out,'' Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Tuesday. Colon threw 60 pitches in a simulated game Monday and participated in bunting drills in Tampa over the weekend. It's possible he could return for this weekend's "Subway Series" against the Mets.

Bartolo Colon (hamstring) practiced bunting Tuesday. Sweeny Murti of New York's WFAN suspects that Colon was working on his bunting in anticipation of returning to the Yankees' starting rotation this weekend for an interleague series against the crosstown Mets. The big right-hander has been sidelined since early June with a strained hamstring.

Bartolo Colon (hamstring) threw a four-inning simulated game Monday without any issues. Colon allowed only two hits and struck out three, tossing 60 pitches in all. The Yankees have not announced whether he is going to make a minor league rehab start. If they decide he's ready right now, Colon will return to the Bombers' rotation this weekend to face the Mets.
