Ober will start Saturday against the Astros in Game 1 of the ALDS, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ober wasn't even on the Twins' AL Wild Card Series roster, but he'll be entrusted with the series opener in Houston. The big right-hander was sent to the minors following a midseason swoon, but he returned in September to post a 2.08 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 21.2 innings of work. Ober will be opposed by Justin Verlander in Game 1.

Ober is being considered as the Twins mull their starting pitcher options for Saturday's Game 1 of the ALDS in Houston, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joe Ryan was going to start a potential AL Wild Card Series Game 3 for the Twins, so he's also a candidate for Game 1 of the ALDS and perhaps the favorite for the start. Kenta Maeda is also in the mix. Ober wasn't even on the AL Wild Card Series roster because the team needed only three starters, but he told Hayes that the Twins "have dropped hints he'll pitch at some point" during the ALDS. Ober held a 2.08 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 21.2 innings since rejoining the club on Sept. 15 following a stint in the minors.

Ober allowed one run on two hits over 6.2 innings during Sunday's loss to Colorado. He struck out nine and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Ober was terrific aside from coughing up a solo shot to Nolan Jones in the fourth inning. Ober matched his season high with nine punchouts while forcing a season-high 22 whiffs. He gave up two or fewer runs in each of his final four starts of the regular season, registering a 2.08 ERA and a 26:3 K:BB during that stretch. Ober ended the year with a strong 3.43 ERA and 146:29 K:BB through 144.1 innings.

Ober (8-6) earned the win Tuesday, allowing two hits over five scoreless innings against the Athletics. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
While Ober didn't go deeper than five innings for a ninth consecutive start, he turned in one of his best starts of the season, tying his season high in strikeouts while not allowing a homer for the first time since mid-July. Ober could have a tougher time in his next projected start, which will come Sunday against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Ober did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over five innings against the Reds. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Ober surrendered just two runs on the afternoon despite allowing the leadoff man to reach base in three of his five innings. He's now given up exactly two runs in four of his last five starts and has surrendered at least one homer in 10 straight. It also marked the third time in his last five outings that he's issued at three walks, though he still carries a solid 9:3 K:BB through two September starts to along with a 3.60 ERA.

Ober will make a start during the team's upcoming series against the Reds, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ober made an effective start Friday night against the White Sox, which was enough to convince the Twins to keep him in the rotation. He'd line up to retake the mound Wednesday on full rest, though the team hasn't made it official which day he will start. Dallas Keuchel will shift to a relief role.

Ober (7-6) picked up the win Friday, giving up two runs on five hits over five innings in a 10-2 victory over the White Sox. He struck out six without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Ober tossed 60 of 93 pitches for strikes as he made his first start in the big leagues since Aug. 27 and recorded his first MLB win since July 18, blanking Chicago for four frames until Elvis Andrus tagged him for a two-run homer in the fifth. Ober may have only been making a spot start, but with Dallas Keuchel stumbling to an 8.03 ERA through his first three outings in September, the Twins may elect to keep the right-hander in the rotation for the last couple weeks of the regular season instead.

Ober was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ober will make a spot start for the Twins on Friday against the White Sox as the Twins given their regular rotation members a little breather in the final month of the regular season. The tall right-hander struck out three over five innings of one-run ball in his last start for St. Paul. Ober posted a 2.61 ERA for the Twins in the first half but was demoted after holding a 5.85 ERA in eight starts after the break.

Ober could start for the Twins on Friday versus the White Sox, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pablo Lopez would be on regular rest, but the Twins have TBA listed and it looks like they'll use it as an opportunity to give their regular rotation members some extra rest. Ober last pitched for Triple-A St. Paul on Sept. 9, so he would be on five days' rest Friday.

Ober was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Twins have sent Ober to the minor leagues to make room for Kody Funderburk. Ober has struggled in five August starts, posting a 5.63 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with a 25:8 K:BB across 24 innings. The right-hander will be a candidate to rejoin the squad when rosters expand, given his 3.67 ERA through 22 starts (122.2 frames) so far this season.
