Ober pitched through persistent hip issues last season, both before and after his IL trip in July, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports. "I just never felt like I had a stable base throwing," Ober said. "It felt like my release was off almost every single throw. Sometimes I'd have 10 throws in a row where it felt great, and the next 10 are like, 'I don't know where this is going.' It was a sharp pain, and I didn't feel strong in my front leg to block."
EDGE Analysis
Ober suggested at TwinsFest this past weekend that he has fully recovered this offseason. It's worth noting that even when he went on the IL and missed the month of July, he never fully was shut down, instead attacking the inflammation with medication all while throwing on the side. It's difficult to buy into a complete turnaround given the depths of his collapse last season, but at least we have an explanation for it.

Ober signed a one-year, $5.2 million contract with the Twins on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ober endured his worst season in the big leagues in 2025, turning in a 5.10 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 146.1 innings with Minnesota. His second year of arbitration eligibility will grant him a $1.65 million raise, however, and his spot in the Twins' rotation appears to be safe.

Ober (6-9) earned the win Thursday over the Rangers, allowing just two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
It was an encouraging outing for Ober, who held Texas to a pair of singles after giving up 10 runs across 11 innings in his prior two starts. Still, it was a disappointing campaign overall for Ober. He'll likely finish with a 5.10 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 120:31 K:BB across 27 starts (146.1 innings) after posting a sub-4 ERA in each of his previous three seasons.

Ober (5-9) took the loss in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Guardians, coughing up six runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander did manage to keep the ball in the park after Cleveland homered five times in the matinee, but there weren't many other silver linings on this performance for Ober. The six runs allowed represented his worst showing since he got tagged for seven runs by the Tigers at the end of June prior to landing on the IL with a hip issue, but Ober's given up at least four runs in four of his last five trips to the mound, sagging to a 6.49 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB through 26.1 innings over that stretch. He'll put a disappointing 2025 to bed with one more start, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Philadelphia.

Ober (5-8) took the loss Sunday against Arizona, conceding four runs on four hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Despite notching his eighth start without a free pass issued, the Minnesota right-hander was saddled with the loss in this 101-pitch appearance. The Minnesota right-hander once again yielded a homer, his 30th given up of the season, when James McCann slugged a three-run long ball in the fourth inning, ruining Ober's opportunity at a quality start. The 30-year-old now sports a 5.12 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 114:28 K:BB across 135.1 total frames. He currently lines up to make his next start at home against Cleveland next weekend.

Ober (5-7) earned the win Sunday at Kansas City, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 5.1 innings with six strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
The Minnesota right-hander tallied a victory for the first time since May 3, going 0-6 with a 5.91 ERA in 85.1 frames across 16 starts over that span. Ober's main issue during that stretch was the long ball, as he coughed up 24 -- good for a 2.5 HR/9 -- in that time. Sunday marked his first homerless performance in his last five appearances. Overall, the 30-year-old has now pitched to a 5.08 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 105:28 K:BB across 129.1 total innings. Ober currently projects to make his next start at home against Arizona next weekend.

Ober did not factor into the decision in Monday's 6-5 loss to the White Sox. He allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings with three strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
The Minnesota right-hander struggled with the long ball once again in this 69-pitch outing, coughing up two homers, upping his season total to 29. Ober gave up both round trippers in the second inning with Colson Montgomery hitting a solo shot before Chase Meidroth added a two-run blast. Given Ober's inability to keep the ball in the park (he now owns a 2.1 HR/9), it is difficult to rely upon him in fantasy. The 30-year-old will carry a 5.23 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 99:27 K:BB across 124 total innings into his next matchup, which projects to come on the road against Kansas City this weekend.

Ober did not factor in the decision during Tuesday's win over Toronto. He allowed four runs on 10 hits while striking out three over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Ober struggled early Tuesday, coughing up three runs in the first two frames. He served up two solo homers to George Springer, including one in his fifth and final inning of work. Ober is still searching for his first win since May 3 and would've fallen to 4-8 if not for a late comeback by the Twins. Since that last victory, he's 0-6 with a 5.83 ERA across 80.1 frames. For the year, Ober owns a 5.14 ERA with a 96:25 K:BB in 22 starts. He's currently projected to face the White Sox at home next week.

Ober took a no-decision Wednesday against the Athletics, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk in 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Ober turned in his fourth consecutive start of at least five innings since coming off the injured list, and he induced a strong 18 whiffs en route to tying a season high in punchouts. The right-hander had a dismal June, posting a 9.00 ERA across five starts in the month, but he's at least managed to log a more encouraging 4.09 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 19:3 K:BB over his first four outings of August after missing over a month of action due to a left hip impingement. That said, Ober could have his work cut out in Toronto against the first-place Blue Jays his next time out.

Ober allowed three runs on four hits and struck out four without walking a batter over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Tigers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Ober allowed a two-run home run to Riley Greene in the fourth inning and an RBI single to Colt Keith in the sixth. While Ober was stingy with baserunners, the Tigers were able to take advantage of his few mistakes. He's given up eight runs over 16.1 innings across three starts since returning from a left hip impingement. Overall, he's posted a 5.15 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 86:24 K:BB through 108.1 innings across 20 starts this season. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Athletics.
