The Rockies placed Gomber on the paternity list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander was expected to start in the three-games series at Detroit that begins Tuesday, but he'll instead step away from the team for a few days to be with his growing family. Gomber could be back with the team -- and in the rotation -- for Friday's game versus the Cubs.

Gomber (5-10) earned the win over Atlanta on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits over eight innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber ran into trouble in the opening frame when he surrendered three hits, leading to one run coming home for Atlanta. However, the lefty would allow only two more hits from that point on while going eight innings for only the second time this season. Gomber produced five 1-2-3 innings on the night and logged his highest strikeout total since Aug. 2. He's now gone six or more frames in five consecutive starts, going 2-2 over that stretch while posting a 23:7 K:BB.

Gomber (4-10) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings as the Rockies fell 5-3 to the Orioles. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw delivered his 10th quality start of the season on 90 pitches (59 strikes), but a two-run homer by Emmanuel Rivera in the fourth inning put the visitors in the lead for good. Gomber has given Colorado at least six innings in five of six trips to the mound in August, posting a 4.37 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB in 35 innings over that stretch. He'll look for a better result in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Atlanta.

Gomber (4-9) allowed four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber gave up just one of the Yankees' five homers, a two-run blast to Aaron Judge in the first inning, but the Rockies' offense wasn't good enough to keep him off the hook. This was Gomber's first loss in three starts, and he's allowed a modest seven runs over 19 innings in that span, which has all come away from Colorado. He's actually been slightly better at home in 2024 with a 4.42 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 57 innings at Coors Field compared to a 4.89 ERA and 1.32 WHIP through 81 innings on the road. For the season, the southpaw has a 4.70 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 98:35 K:BB through 138 innings over 25 starts. He's lined up to make his next start at home versus the Orioles.

Gomber (4-8) earned the win against the Nationals on Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
The only blemish on Gomber's line was a solo home run by CJ Abrams in the sixth inning. The southpaw generated a solid 13 swinging strikes on 96 pitches and logged his third quality start in four August chances. On the season, he owns a 4.64 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 94:32 K:BB across 132 innings and lines up for a tough matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

Gomber did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Both runs against Gomber came in the third inning when he gave up a pair of singles and a double sandwiched around two groundouts. Gomber had given up a home run in each of his last seven starts but was able to keep the ball in the park Tuesday night and notched just his second quality start over his last six outings. The 30-year-old lefty now owns a 4.82 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 89:30 K:BB in 125 innings and lines up to face the Nationals on the road next week.

Gomber (3-8) was saddled with the loss Thursday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk over three innings. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber allowed five extra-base hits in the first inning, with a two-run blast by Pete Alonso representing the biggest blow of the four-run inning. A second dinger by Alonso to lead off the third was the final blow against Gomber, who was removed following the third frame. Thursday's outing marked the first time in 10 home starts this season that Gomber has allowed as many as five earned runs. While his next start is slated to take place away from Coors Field, Gomber's task won't be any easier as he's slated to face the red-hot Diamondbacks next week in Phoenix.

Gomber (3-7) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over seven innings to earn the win Friday over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber gave up solo home runs to Manny Machado and Donovan Solano, but he was able to limit the damage there. This was Gomber's third outing of at least seven innings this year, and it snapped a three-start winless skid. He's at a 4.66 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 84:28 K:BB through 116 innings over 21 starts this season. While homers remain an issue -- he's allowed 22 of them this year -- Gomber is still having his strongest campaign since 2021. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Mets.

Gomber (2-7) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six over 3.2 innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber needed 85 pitches (51 strikes) to get his 11 outs. The Giants put up all three runs on his line over the first two innings, and the Rockies were unable to catch up. Over five appearances in July, Gomber allowed 16 runs across 27.1 innings, though he had a respectable 22:3 K:BB in that span. The southpaw is now at a 4.79 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 78:27 K:BB through 109 innings over 20 starts. Gomber's playing on a one-year contract this season, so it's possible the 30-year-old gets traded by Tuesday's deadline.

Gomber allowed four runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out five during the extra-innings win over the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber worked through four scoreless frames before unraveling in the fifth inning. The Red Sox piled on four runs that inning, highlighted by Jamie Westbrook's three-run shot. Gomber has allowed at least four runs in seven of his last eight starts, resulting in an ugly 7.01 ERA during that span. In 11 outings before that stretch, he owned a 3.06 ERA, but the recent struggles have pushed that up to 4.70 for the year. Gomber's next outing is lined up to be in San Francisco.
