Miller (4-4) was credited with the win in a victory over the Astros on Friday, walking one and striking out one over a third of an inning.
EDGE Analysis
Miller was handed the unenviable task of negotiating a two-out, bases-loaded jam with the score knotted at 2-2 when he entered in the top of the eighth inning. While the free pass he issued to the first batter he faced, Michael Brantley, brought home a run that was charged to John Gant, Miller then recorded a clutch swinging strikeout of Carlos Correa with an 85 mph slider to escape the frame without further damage. Paul Goldschmidt's subsequent three-run homer in the home half of the inning eventually made Miller the pitcher of record, extending his successful July. Factoring in Friday's appearance, Miller boasts a 1-1 mark, two saves, six holds and a 2.00 ERA across the nine innings he's logged this month.

Miller, who pitched a perfect ninth inning for his third save in a win over the Pirates on Tuesday, now has a 2.45 ERA, five holds and two saves overall across 7.1 innings over 10 appearances in July.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw has notably logged two of his five save chances for the season within his last four appearances, and he would seemingly be in line for more high-leverage work if he continues performing in similarly strong fashion. Miller has turned in scoreless efforts in 11 of his last 13 trips to the mound overall, a stretch during which he's coaxed his ERA down from 4.38 to 3.74. While the latter figure remains much more reminiscent of those he generated during the early portion of his career as opposed to more recent seasons, it's still an improvement over his 4.24 showing during an inconsistent final Indians campaign in 2018.

Miller picked up the save against the Reds on Thursday, working around one hit to toss a scoreless ninth inning and close out a 7-4 victory for the Cardinals. He struck out one and walked none.
EDGE Analysis
It was the second save in four opportunities for the left-hander, who is now sporting a 3.86 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and a 45:13 K:BB over 30.1 innings. Carlos Martinez has been acting as the primary role for the Cardinals, so Miller doesn't figure to be seeing opportunities like this very frequently, aside from days where Martinez is getting a rest.

Miller has generated five scoreless efforts in his last six appearances and owns a 2.25 ERA across eight May outings overall.
EDGE Analysis
Miller endured a rocky first month-plus in his new Cardinals digs, as his ERA stood at 5.56 entering the current month. However, the veteran seems to finally be hitting his stride, even though he does have both a loss and a blown save in May. Those two hiccups aside, Miller has been effective more often than not, and he's also picked up his second win and seventh hold over that span. Jordan Hicks, who's endured some inconsistency recently in his own right, remains the primary closer, but Miller is also a ninth-inning option for manager Mike Shildt.

Miller (1-2) struck out one and allowed one run on three hits over one inning in a loss to the Pirates on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Miller ultimately took the fall for the narrow defeat, as he failed to preserve a 1-1 tie when called on in the eighth inning. The veteran southpaw surrendered a trio of singles to Cole Tucker, Keith Newman and Starling Marte, the latter plating what would eventually prove to be the winning run. Miller's ERA (5.40) and WHIP (1.73) both have plenty of room for improvement, and he's now allowed at least one earned run in seven of his 18 appearances thus far in 2019.

Miller earned the save against the Nationals by recording one strikeout and not allowing a baserunner over two-thirds of an inning.
EDGE Analysis
Miller enter with one out and the tying run on first base but promptly struck out Adam Eaton and got Victor Robles to pop out. The 33-year-old has endured an up-and-down first month of the season and has a 5.56 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB through 11.1 innings.

Miller (1-1) fired a scoreless eighth inning in which he allowed no hits or walks and recorded two strikeouts during a win over the Brewers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Miller bounced back after back-to-back rocky outings during which he'd allowed an earned run in each. The 33-year-old has endured some inconsistency to open his first Cardinals campaign, allowing at least one run in five of 12 appearances. Although Miller has generated scoreless efforts in five of his last seven trips to the mound, he's blown the only save opportunity he's seen this season and is clearly the setup option behind closer Jordan Hicks for the foreseeable future.

Miller, who allowed a hit over a scoreless ninth inning during which he struck out the side in a win over the Dodgers on Thursday, has now generated three consecutive scoreless appearances.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever raised some eyebrows after allowing four runs (two earned) on two hits over two-thirds of an inning against the Padres last Saturday, surrendering his second and third home runs of the season in the process. That outing also marked the third time in five appearances that Miller had yielded at least one earned run, but he appears to be hitting his stride again. Miller has a pair of scoreless frames on his resume over his last three trips to the mound, and his ability to miss bats Thursday was a welcome sight. However, with Jordan Hicks typically handling the closer's role for the moment, Miller's sole save opportunity thus far was the aforementioned meltdown against San Diego.

Miller (0-1) allowed four runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks across two-thirds of an inning in a loss to the Padres on Saturday. He was also charged with his first blown save.
EDGE Analysis
It was another nightmare outing for Miller, who allowed a pair of two-run home runs to Austin Hedges and Manny Machado in the eighth that would prove to be the difference in the game. Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports it was the first time Miller had allowed multiple home runs in an appearance since 2015. The veteran southpaw has now given up at least one run in three of five appearances, and he's seen a spike in hard contact allowed overall in the early going. Factoring in Saturday's outing. Miller has allowed an exit velocity of 95 mph or more in six of the 12 balls that have been put in play against him.

Miller was credited with a hold in a loss to the Brewers on Sunday, allowing an earned run on two hits and a walk over an inning. He also recorded a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Miller notably was called on with two outs in the seventh and a man on, and he immediately ran into trouble by walking Christian Yelich and yielding a pair of RBI singles to Ryan Braun and Travis Shaw. The veteran left-hander was smooth the rest of the way and handed closer Jordan Hicks a one-run lead the young right-hander would eventually squander. Miller has now given up an earned run in each of his first two outings of the season, but he figures to log the occasional save opportunity in addition to the setup work he saw Sunday.
