Manager Mike Scioscia reported Sunday that the Angels have not ruled out the possibility of Heaney (shoulder) making his upcoming Friday start against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney exited his Sept. 9 start early due to left shoulder tightness, putting himself at risk of missing his upcoming scheduled start. The Angels still have not made a definitive decision with regards to his Friday start, but they have tossed around the idea of giving Heaney an extra day of rest and moving his start to Saturday. The lefty's status remains a bit unclear at the moment, but an official decision will surely be made in the coming days.

Heaney said he left his Saturday start with shoulder tightness after feeling the injury on his final two pitches, but he hopes he can throw in the next few days, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw doesn't appear too concerned, but it's best to judge the confidence his team has in him after he works out sometime in the next week. Heaney is in danger of missing at least one start, if only for the chance the Angels want to play this conservatively, considering he recently returned from Tommy John surgery rehab.

Heaney left his Saturday outing due to left shoulder soreness, and the Angels will update his status Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney's recent return from Tommy John surgery rehab has been marred by allowing an excessive amount of home runs (12 in 21.2 innings, including one Saturday). Perhaps this issue has lingered and contributed to the issue, though we'll know more as reports come out on when he started to feel the discomfort.

Heaney left his start in the third inning Saturday after a trainer came out and checked on him, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw had allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over 2.1 innings, as his recent struggles continued. Heaney now faces a potential physical obstacle in turning things around this season, but the club should provide a detailed update following this game's completion.

Heaney (1-1) took the loss Sunday in Texas after allowing five runs on six hits with four walks and five strikeouts over 3.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney failed to contain one of the league's deadliest home offenses, allowing three home runs in his short outing, including back-to-back shots prior to being pulled with one out in the fourth inning. The lefty has struggled to keep the ball in the park against right-handed hitters, allowing 11 home runs to them while holding batters from the left side without one in 19.1 innings of work over four starts since returning from Tommy John surgery. He'll look to bounce back Saturday in Seattle.

Heaney (1-0) picked up his first win of the season after tossing six innings of one-run ball while striking out a career-high 10 batters in Monday's victory over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old bounced back in fine fashion after getting hit hard (8.10 ERA) in his first two starts back from the disabled list. Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register noted that Heaney's early struggles were related to his ineffective breaking ball, an aspect of his game that he clearly rediscovered Monday. It is tough to immediately trust pitchers coming off of Tommy John surgery, but the talented southpaw showed fantasy owners what he is capable of when he brings his A-game. Heaney will look to carry this momentum into his next start against the Rangers on Sunday.

Heaney allowed four runs on eight hits - three homers - across five innings while striking out four in a no-decision against the Rangers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney's still trying to shake the rust off; he's now allowed seven homers in his two starts back from Tommy John surgery after allowing just nine home runs across 18 starts back in 2015. While Heaney proved he could be a valuable fantasy asset before his elbow injury, he has yet to turn any heads since returning, so it may be wiser to wait for him to put together a strong outing before subbing him in.

Heaney (1-0) allowed five runs on seven hits while striking out five over five innings, but received no decision Friday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
In his second outing since 2015, Heaney almost blew an early 5-0 lead, and although he left the game with a two-run lead, the bullpen was unable to protect the lead. Fantasy owners may choose to see if he has a strong outing or two before deciding whether to pick him up for the stretch run. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Rangers.

Heaney (elbow) was activated from the DL and is starting Friday's game against the Orioles, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
A corresponding move has yet to be announced, but Heaney will take the mound in the show for the first time since 2016. Before undergoing Tommy John surgery, Heaney had shown potential to become a solid starter. During the 2015 season, he started 18 games and owned an ERA and WHIP of 3.49 and 1.20, respectively.

Heaney (elbow) said that he would be activated from the 60-day disabled list to start Friday against the Orioles, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels aren't expected to officially announce the transaction until Friday, when Heaney will take the hill with the big club for the first time in 13 and a half months following a long recovery from Tommy John surgery. Heaney was solid in his final three rehab starts with Triple-A Salt Lake, registering a 3.18 ERA and 14:4 K:BB over 17 innings, and though he also posting strong numbers in his last healthy season in the big leagues, fantasy owners may want to tread carefully with the left-hander. Pitchers of higher acclaim than Heaney that have returned from Tommy John surgery have often had difficulty consistently commanding their offerings, so some volatility in his production should be expected. It may take until 2018 before Heaney flashes his pre-surgery form on a regular basis.
