White was granted his unconditional release by the Astros organization Monday, Bryant-Jon Anteola of the Fresno Bee reports. White has struggled mightily since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2013, and he posted a 5.56 ERA with an ugly 18:17 K:BB in nine appearances this season for Triple-A Fresno. The 26-year-old will hope to catch on with another organization as he looks to regain the form that made him the 15th overall pick in the 2009 amateur draft.

Through six appearances (four starts) for Triple-A Fresno, White is 1-2 with a 5.20 ERA and 10:10 K:BB over 27.2 innings. You read that correctly. The 2009 first-round pick has as many walks this season as he does strikeouts. White clearly hasn't been the same pitcher since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2013, so don't expect to see him in the majors anytime soon.

White passed through waivers Wednesday and was outrighted to Triple-A Fresno. White was placed designated for assignment Saturday, then was placed on waivers Tuesday. He has passed through waivers, and now remains further away from the major league bullpen without a 40-man spot.

White, who was designated for assignment over the weekend, has been placed on waivers, the Houston Chronicle reports. If White isn't claimed by another team, he'll likely be sent to Triple-A Fresno on Wednesday. He took a beating in Fresno last season, and then struggled throughout spring training. He hasn't given the Astros much to be excited about since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2013.

White was designated for assignment, the Houston Chronicle reports. The Astros have 10 days to trade, release or outright him to the minors. In three spring appearances, White allowed seven earned runs on eight hits and six walks with no strikeouts over four innings. He'll likely begin 2015 with Triple-A Fresno.

White was optioned to Astros' minor league camp on Friday. In three spring appearances, White allowed seven earned runs on eight hits and six walks with no strikeouts over four innings. He'll likely open 2015 with Triple-A Fresno after struggling at the same level last year, going 3-6 with a 6.50 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 53:31 K:BB ratio over 63.2 innings. The former top prospect hasn't flashed any big league potential since recovering from 2013 Tommy John surgery.

In two Grapefruit League appearances for the Astros this spring, White has allowed six earned runs on six hits and four walks with no strikeouts over two innings. A candidate for Houston's fifth rotation spot, White has struggled mightily this spring while starters he's competing against - Roberto Hernandez (0.00 ERA), Samuel Deduno (1.80 ERA) and Dan Straily (5.40 ERA) - have pitched much better. With the first wave of Astros' spring cuts expected this weekend, White could be ticketed to open 2015 with Triple-A Fresno.

Astros activated RHP Alex White from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City. White is still on his way back from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. The 25-year-old right-hander could be an option for the Astros at some point in June.

Alex White (elbow) showed improved fastball velocity in a simulated game on Tuesday afternoon. White underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last April. The right-hander could become an option for the Astros at some point in mid-to-late May.

Astros placed RHP Alex White on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21, with a right elbow injury. White needs more time as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery. He's not a given to be added to the big league roster once he's ready physically.
