Plutko (1-1) took the loss Thursday against the Rays by surrendering seven runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts through 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko took his first loss of the season as he fell victim to the long ball, limiting the damage to a trio of solo shots before Kevin Kiermaier swatted a fatal three-run, inside-the-park homer in the sixth. On the bright side, Plutko didn't walk anyone and managed to punch out three. The right-hander is coming off a solid start in which he allowed just one run after missing the beginning of the season with a right forearm strain, so perhaps this shaky outing was a fluke. Through both games this year, the 27-year-old holds a 6.35 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. He'll get a chance to prove himself again with a Tuesday tilt at Fenway Park.

Plutko (1-0) earned the win Saturday against the Orioles by allowing one run on one hit across six innings. He struck out four and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko missed the beginning of the season with a right forearm strain, but showed no rust Saturday as the lone hit he allowed was a solo home run to Trey Mancini. The 27-year-old may have been able to pitch deeper since he finished at 83 pitches, but it makes sense the team would take it slow in his first major-league start of the year. Plutko is set to take the mound again Thursday versus Tampa Bay.

Plutko was recalled from Triple-A Columbus ahead of his start Saturday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
He gave up one run on a walk and two hits while striking out four in five innings in his most recent start for the Clippers. His previous outing was a disaster, as he gave up five runs and didn't make it out of the first inning. Plutko could stick in the big-league rotation for the foreseeable future if he can prove to be a serviceable option, and Saturday's matchup is certainly favorable.

Plutko will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start Saturday against the Orioles, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Plutko joining the rotation Saturday, Shane Bieber and Carlos Carrasco will now take the mound Sunday and Monday, respectively. After getting rocked in his first start for the Clippers earlier in May, Pluto allowed one run across five innings his last time out for Columbus. With the big-league staff currently dealing with multiple injuries, Plutko could remain in the rotation for a few turns, assuming he holds his own.

Plutko (forearm) gave up five runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one in one-third of an inning in his return to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander made it through three frames in his final extended spring outing last week, but Plutko could not even record a second out in his first start back at the Triple-A level. He missed the start of the year with a right forearm strain. While the Indians are hurting for starters at the big-league level, it doesn't seem like Plutko is a realistic option in the immediate future.

Plutko (forearm) will join Triple-A Columbus after completing three innings at an extended spring training game Friday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko has been nursing the right forearm strain over the last month but appears to be nearing his season debut for the Clippers. Corey Kluber (forearm) and Mike Clevinger (back) are both on the injured list for the Indians, so if Plutko pitches well early he could put himself in consideration for a spot in the major-league rotation.

Plutko (forearm) is two weeks away from game action, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko has been sidelined all season with a forearm strain, but he picked up a throwing program last week and progressed to throwing batting practice Wednesday. He'll likely need to make at least a few rehab appearances before potentially being considered to fill an opening in the big-league rotation created by Mike Clevinger's (back) absence.

Plutko (forearm) has resumed a throwing program and is expected to be ready to pitch in games in about 2-to-3 weeks, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Indians will likely want Plutko to complete at least a few rehab outings in the minors before considering him for the long-term opening in the rotation that was created by Mike Clevinger (back) moving to the 60-day injured list. Plutko, who is currently on the 7-day IL at Triple-A Columbus, posted a 5.28 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 7.0 K/9 over 17 outings (12 starts) with the big club in 2018 and won't warrant much immediate interest if he does get the call to the Cleveland rotation at some point this season.

Plutko opened the season on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Columbus due to a right forearm strain, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The news of Plutko's injury became more consequential Tuesday after the Indians placed Mike Clevinger (back) on the 10-day injured list and revealed that the young right-hander would be shut down from throwing for the next 6-to-8 weeks. Clevinger's absence leaves a long-term vacancy in the rotation, which Plutko could be asked to fill once he overcomes his own injury. Until then, it's unclear whom the Indians will turn to in Clevinger's stead. Plutko's Triple-A rotation mate, Cody Anderson, could make for the most logical replacement, as he had been on the same pitching schedule as Clevinger and already holds a spot on the 40-man roster.

Plutko was optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko stumbled to a 9.45 ERA and 1.43 WHIP through 13.1 innings this spring, prompting the Indians to send him to the minors to open the season. The right-hander compiled a 5.28 ERA across 76.2 innings with Cleveland last season and doesn't' figure to make much of an impact at the big-league level in 2019.
