Plutko will make his next start Tuesday against the Cardinals, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko is battling Shane Bieber for the final spot in the Cleveland rotation, but there will be room for both temporarily with Carlos Carrasco (forearm) on the disabled list through at least Wednesday. Though the performances of both pitchers in their upcoming turns will likely dictate whom retains a rotation spot once Carrasco is activated, the fact that Bieber, who will start Friday against the Tigers, is ahead of Plutko in the pitching schedule hints that Bieber may be viewed as the early frontrunner. Plutko has posted a 5.04 ERA (6.77 FIP) and has allowed eight home runs across 25 innings in his five appearances (four starts) with the Tribe this season.

Plutko allowed one run on two hits with a strikeout over two innings out of the Indians' bullpen during Saturday's loss to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko was the expected starter for Sunday's series finale, but Cleveland apparently changed plans after Carlos Carrasco exited in the second inning after being hit by a line drive. Shane Bieber will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start Sunday, T.J. Zuppe of The Athletic Cleveland reports. Plutko threw only 22 pitches Saturday and could be available to pitch again in a couple days if the Indians choose to do so.

Plutko (3-1) took the loss Tuesday against the White Sox. He allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko gave up five runs against the White Sox in his last start on May 28 and fared no better Tuesday. The righty allowed back-to-back home runs to Yoan Moncada and Yolmer Sanchez to begin the game and proceeded to serve up an RBI double to Matt Davidson three batters later. Plutko gave up two more runs in the fifth on a walk and consecutive doubles before manager Terry Francona gave him the hook. He'll take a 5.09 ERA into his upcoming scheduled start against the Twins.

Plutko was recalled from Triple-A Columbus and will start Tuesday's game against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Plutko was summoned from the minors to serve as the Indians' fifth starter Tuesday. Across three starts for the big club this season, Plutko owns a solid 3.93 ERA and 1.04 WHIP across 18.1 innings. Francisco Mejia was sent to the minors in a corresponding roster move.

Plutko will start against the White Sox on Tuesday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko has made three starts for Cleveland this season, logging a 3.93 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with a 12:5 K:BB across 18.1 innings. His most recent start came against the White Sox on May 28, where he was hit for five runs over five innings but came away with the victory.

Plutko appears to the be leading candidate to take the hill for the Indians when the club next requires a fifth starter June 12 against the White Sox, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With a few off days on tap over the next two weeks, the Indians will get by with a four-man rotation for the time being, allowing the club to stash Plutko at Triple-A Columbus. Plutko proved to be an upgrade over Josh Tomlin while making three spot starts for the Tribe in May, going 3-0 with a 3.93 ERA and 1.04 WHIP across 18.1 innings. Plutko wasn't without his warts in those outings, however, as he served up five home runs and struck out only 12 batters. The lack of strikeout stuff and vulnerability to the long ball suggest regression could be in store for Plutko, but his solid surface numbers thus far seem to give him an edge over Triple-A teammate Shane Bieber for the final vacancy in the Cleveland rotation. Bieber, who gave up four runs in 5.2 innings in a spot start Thursday in Minnesota before being optioned back to Triple-A, is regarded as the better prospect of the two and boasts stellar command and control, so it wouldn't be surprising if he eventually settles in as the fifth starter over Plutko later this season.

Plutko was sent to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Nick Camino of Newsradio WTAM 1100 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko will head back to the minors after making three starts for Cleveland. He accrued a 3.93 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 12 strikeouts and five walks across 18.1 innings. The move is likely a result of a poor outing Monday, when he surrendered five runs in five innings of work against the White Sox.

Plutko (2-0) tossed six shutout innings and allowed just two hits and four walks with four strikeouts in a win Wednesday over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Plutko needed every bit of this excellent performance, as Jon Lester and the Cubs held Cleveland to just one run. The decision to demote the struggling Josh Tomlin to the bullpen looks like a pretty comfortable one for Cleveland now. Plutko has now tossed two quality starts in his only two major league outings with just eight hits allowed. He wasn't flashy, but he was efficient. Plutko needed just 85 pitches to get through six innings and recorded outs on all 10 fastballs Cubs hitters managed to put in play. Plutko's next turn is slated to come Monday against the White Sox.

Plutko has been called up from Triple-A Columbus to start Wednesday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Plutko has been promoted to the major leagues ahead of Wednesday's matchup. In one start for the Indians this season, he picked up a win and tossed 7.1 innings while giving up three runs on six hits while striking out six. Plutko figures to be in for a challenge against a tough Chicago lineup at Wrigley Field.

Plutko will start for the Indians on Wednesday against the Cubs, T.J. Zuppe of The Athletic Cleveland reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's an odd decision, as the Indians have an off day Monday, so one would expect them to skip a starter. The struggling Josh Tomlin is reportedly not being skipped, though, and there haven't been reports that any other Cleveland starter is injured, so it appears that rather than dropping down to four starters the Indians are instead growing their rotation to six starters, at least temporarily. Regardless of the team's logic, it will be a tough assignment for Plutko away at Wrigley Field.
