The 29-year-old Plutko has hit a rough patch with seven runs allowed in his last 3.2 innings, including a four-spot against the Yankees as an opener on May 16. Plutko made his first start of the season Sunday, but he was unable to last past the first inning since he gave up a walk, two singles and a pair of home runs to begin the game. However, the Orioles scored 10 runs in the contest, which allowed Plutko to settle for a no-decision. The right-hander could make more starts later in the season, but he could pitch as a reliever in his next outing.

EDGE Analysis

This will be Plutko's 16th appearance and first start for Baltimore after he was traded from Cleveland shortly before Opening Day. His home-run rate this season is well below his career 1.89 HR/9 mark, and his 17.1 percent strikeout rate leaves a lot to be desired. Further, he hasn't gone more than three innings in an appearance this season, so it's difficult to see him qualifying for the win.

Plutko can't be fully blamed for the blown save -- starter Dean Kremer allowed consecutive singles to begin the sixth inning before the call to the bullpen was made.
