Adam Jones said he has been bothered by right wrist soreness for weeks. Keep in mind that Jones' left wrist, which was plunked Wednesday by a Brandon Morrow pitch, had been the plagued joint of public record. What we didn't know was that the right wrist has been bothersome for far longer and it was pain in that joint that caused him to exit Sunday's game. Jones will stay in Florida to get an MRI on his wrists on Monday, an off-day, before hopefully joining the club in Boston on Tuesday. With Nolan Reimold and Nick Markakis sidelined, Baltimore can ill afford to lose their star center fielder for a significant amount of time. Stay tuned.

Adam Jones is expected to undergo X-rays on his left wrist. Jones was plunked in the wrist by a Brandon Morrow pitch in the sixth inning of Wednesday's game. He stayed in, so chances are that he's OK, but the Orioles aren't taking any chances with their $85.5 million man. We'll update his condition when more is known.

Adam Jones' new contract extension with the Orioles is worth $88.5 million over six years. The Orioles will officially announce the deal at a press conference Sunday. It's a huge commitment, but Jones seems to be hitting his prime here at age 26 and undoubtedly carries great star power. If his early offensive production proves legit, the agreement should be a winner for both the Orioles and the talented center fielder.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that Adam Jones' extension with the Orioles is expected to be for six years and around $85 million. It seems like a pretty fair deal for both sides. Jones is in the midst of a career year, as he sports a .311/.357/.601 batting line to go with 14 homers. He had been set to be arbitration-eligible for the final time in 2013 before hitting free agency. The deal would be the largest in Orioles history, easily outpacing Miguel Tejada's six-year, $72 million free agent deal back in 2004.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Orioles are close to signing Adam Jones to a long-term extension. Specific terms of the deal aren't available at this point, but Rosenthal says the extension will be "well north" of Miguel Tejada's six-year, $72 million free agent deal and Nick Markakis' six-year, $66.1 million extension. Jones, who is batting a cool .311/.357/.601 with 14 homers this season, was set to be arbitration-eligible for the final time in 2013 before hitting free agency.
