Conley surrendered one run on two hits over two innings Friday against the Nationals in his Grapefruit League debut.

A second inning solo shot by Michale Taylor was the only blemish on Conley's record during his first appearance of the spring. After registering a solid 3.76 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 67 innings with the Marlins last season, Conley is battling a crowded field for one of two spots up for grabs in the opening day rotation. Conley's strong start to the spring keeps the left-hander firmly in that race.

Conley registered a quality start in Sunday's season finale against Philadelphia, tossing six innings of two-run ball.

EDGE Analysis

The rookie hurler capped off an impressive debut campaign with the Marlins allowing two runs on six hits and one walk with a pair of strikeouts. He registered a solid 3.76 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 15 appearances (11 starts) with the Marlins which included a strong 2.62 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over 34.1 innings in September and October. Conley is likely to enter 2016 penciled into the back-end of Miami's rotation.

Conley surrendered five hits, two earned runs and two walks over six innings on Tuesday against the Rays. He struck out five but did not factor into the decision.

EDGE Analysis

Conley posted his third consecutive quality start, a stretch during which he has generated a sterling 1.42 ERA. The 25-year-old southpaw surrendered only his second homer of September to Mike Mahtook after not having yielded a gopher ball in three of his previous four starts. Conley was generally sharp on Tuesday however, throwing 60 of 97 pitches for strikes and inducing an impressive 15 swings-and-misses. He has put together a strong rookie campaign for the Marlins overall, and figures to be very much in the mix for a starting spot in the 2016 rotation.

Conley struck out eight Phillies while allowing one run on three hits and a walk over six innings in a no-decision Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

That's a pair of sparkling outings in a row for Conley, as starting on a week's rest didn't seem to add any rust. He's got his ERA down into the threes now, and he should have a chance to make one or two more starts down the stretch in an attempt to make a lasting impression on the Marlins.

Conley (4-1) shut the Mets down for seven innings Wednesday, allowing just three hits without a walk while striking out six in a 6-0 win.

EDGE Analysis

The Mets came into this game with the best offense in baseball since the trade deadline, and Conley simply shut 'em down, throwing 70 of his 99 pitches for strikes. This easily represents the finest start of his young career, but Conley's certainly shown some strikeout upside, giving him longer-term potential as a starter, particularly considering that the 25-year-old southpaw has fairly similar splits against lefties and righties.

Conley gave up two runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven over 4.1 innings Tuesday against the Brewers.

EDGE Analysis

Eleven men reached on Conley and he recorded just 13 outs, so it was pretty remarkable that he was able to limit the Brewers to jus two runs. He pushed his pitch count to 99 (62 strikes) without making it out of the fifth inning. His next start will come Tuesday on the road against the Mets.

Conley struck out four and walked three while giving up three runs on four hits over five innings in a winning effort Wednesday against the Braves.

EDGE Analysis

The Marlins provided plenty of run support against Braves starter Williams Perez, enabling Conley to improve his record to 3-1 for the season. In 19 appearances at Triple-A this season, Conley turned in an impressive 2.52 ERA in the PCL (3.82 FIP). His strikeout rate has increased with the promotion to Miami, but home runs have been an issue for the left-hander thus far at the big league level as he's surrendered five in 37.2 innings for the Marlins. He's currently schedule to face the Brewers at home Tuesday in his next start.

Conley allowed three runs on six hits, walking one and striking out six over five innings of a 4-3 win against the Nationals on Friday night.

EDGE Analysis

Conley (2-1, 4.96 ERA) spent much of the outing in trouble, but the struggling Nationals couldn't deliver a knockout blow. He has enough to collect a few strikeouts, but he has failed to show enough consistency of command to stay out of trouble.

Conley picked up his first major league win Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings, striking out two. It wasn't a dominating performance, but it was more than good enough on a day when the Marlins' bats erupted for 14 runs. Conley may need to turn in another solid start or two to stake a claim on the team's fifth starter spot, however.

Conley was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Saturday. Jordany Valdespin was designated for assignment after Friday's game to clear room for Conley, who will toe the rubber Saturday in place of Mat Latos (foot). The 25-year-old Conley has enjoyed a good deal of success in 16 appearances (15 starts) with New Orleans this season, posting a 2.33 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 62:34 K:BB over 89 innings. He will oppose Raisel Iglesias in his first career major league start.
