Nola (3-2) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings in an 8-4 victory over the Blue Jays. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander appears to be warming up along with the weather. Nola's four-seam fastball averaged a season-high 93 mph in this outing and topped out at 95 mph, easing concerns about his April velocity, and he's delivered five quality starts in his eight trips to the mound in 2023. He'll take a 4.44 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 39:11 K:BB through 48.2 innings into his next outing, which is likely to come this weekend in Coors Field.

Nola did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing four runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings against the Dodgers. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Nola pitched well for most of Wednesday's outing, but his streak of three consecutive quality starts was snapped after Chris Taylor tripled in the seventh inning and scored on Freddie Freeman's sacrifice fly. While Nola sports an unsightly 4.64 ERA, a solid 1.13 WHIP and 33:9 K:BB would indicate that positive regression is coming. He's currently lined up to face the Blue Jays at home in his next outing.

Nola (2-2) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on three hits over eight innings against the Astros. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Nola had his best start of the season by far, as his only blemish was giving up a solo home run to Jeremy Pena in this 107-pitch masterpiece. The right-hander tossed seven innings in his previous appearance on April 21st against Colorado, so he appears to be settling in after a rough start to the season. The 29-year-old is tentatively slated to face the Dodgers on the road in his next start.

Nola (2-2) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on three hits over eight innings against the Astros. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Nola provided his best start of the season in a World Series rematch. The righty posted season-best numbers in innings pitched, strike outs, runs allowed and hits allowed. Nola lowered his ERA to 4.46 and picked up his second win of 2023.

Nola did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over seven innings during a 4-3 win over the Rockies. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Nola allowed back-to-back, one-out singles to Kris Bryant and Charlie Blackmon in the first before serving up a three-run shot to Ryan McMahon with two outs. However, that was the only damage Colorado could muster against the right-hander, who cruised through six scoreless frames after his shaky first. After walking just three batters through his first three starts, Nola has given up three walks in back-to-back starts, and he currently sports a 5.40 ERA with a modest 22:9 K:BB through five starts (28.1 innings).

Nola (1-2) earned the win Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks in six innings during a 14-3 victory over the Reds. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Nola was handed a nine-run lead after the top of the first, and the veteran right-hander took advantage by limiting damage while cruising through six innings, notching his first win and second quality start. Through four outings (21.1 innings), Nola's ERA sits at 5.91, but he has a strong 19:6 K:BB. His next start is tentatively scheduled for Philadelphia's upcoming four-game set versus Colorado.

Nola (0-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings as the Phillies fell 8-4 to the Marlins. He struck out six without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
It was an ominous sign for Nola when light-hitting Jon Berti took him deep for a solo shot in the third inning, but the right-hander didn't allow another run until the wheels came off in the sixth. He exited after 100 pitches (70 strikes), and while Nola's 7.04 ERA through his first three starts looks rough, it comes with a 15:3 K:BB through 15.1 innings that should reassure GMs that have him rostered. The 29-year-old will look for a better result in his next outing, likely to come this weekend in Cincinnati.

Nola (0-1) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three earned runs on seven hits with one walk through six innings against the Yankees. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Nola's outing was undoubtedly an improvement compared to his previous performance on Opening Day. The right-hander was tagged with a run in the first inning, but he kept the Yankees scoreless until the sixth inning and would eventually depart after his only walk of the game plated a third earned run in the seventh. While Nola still has yet to make it into the win column, he is trending in the right direction. The 29-year-old displayed better command throwing 62 of his 87 pitches for strikes and did a better job of staying ahead in his counts. Nola is tentatively scheduled to start Tuesday against the Marlins.

Nola allowed five earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four across 3.2 innings in Thursday's loss to the Rangers. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Nola out-dueled Jacob deGrom for much of his outing, as he blanked the Rangers through three frames. However, things deteriorated quickly in the fourth inning when he allowed five of the first six batters he faced to reach base. That stretch culminated with a three-run homer by Robbie Grossman. Nola is coming off an excellent 2022 season during which he posted a 3.25 ERA and 0.96 WHIP, so there's no need to panic over one poor outing to begin the new campaign.

Nola has been named the Phillies' Opening Day starter.
EDGE Analysis
It will be the sixth straight season that he's taken the ball Opening Day. The Phillies are hoping it won't be his last, but Nola is slated to hit free agency after the season. He'll square off against the Rangers and Jacob deGrom on March 30.
