Hicks (elbow) has resumed a throwing program at the Yankees' spring training facility, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hicks is battling a flexor strain and hasn't played since early August. Reports from last week suggested he'd be shut down for a few more weeks before being re-evaluated, but he's evidently resumed work ahead of that schedule. It remains unclear whether he'll be able to return to action at some point during the playoffs.

Hicks (elbow) met Monday with Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who recommended the outfielder rest for a few more weeks before being re-evaluated, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
For now, Hicks will avoid Tommy John surgery and hope that the rest-and-rehab method allows him to move past the problematic right elbow, but the added downtime only further decreases the possibility of him playing again in 2019. Unless Hicks makes dramatic strides in his recovery as September draws to a close, he'll have a tough time making it back on the field for the playoffs, even if the Yankees make a deep run. Cameron Maybin and Clint Frazier should continue to jockey for regular work in the outfield alongside Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge, at least until Giancarlo Stanton (knee) is likely activated from the 60-day injured list later this month.

Hicks (elbow) will get a second opinion Monday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It is highly unlikely that Hicks will be able to return in 2019, as he suffered a setback Saturday and has been unable to resume throwing. The fact he is getting a second opinion suggests that surgery might be on the table.

Hicks (elbow) slowed down his rehab Saturday as his elbow wasn't feeling right, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reperts.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a difficult season for Hicks, who has been limited by injuries to just 59 games. He underwent another MRI, the results of which have yet to be released. Anything more than a minor setback is likely to rule Hicks out for the rest of the year and possibly the playoffs.

Hicks (elbow) reported feeling fine after throwing Monday, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hicks was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right flexor strain Aug. 4 and was held back from throwing for nearly a month as the Yankees elected to take a conservative approach to the injury. Though a timetable for his return has not been announced, manager Aaron Boone indicated last week that Hicks could move quickly through the rehab process after resuming throwing.

Hicks (elbow) will be re-evaluated Friday to determine whether he can resume a throwing program, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hicks has been shut down from throwing since landing on the injured list with the flexor strain Aug. 4, as manager Aaron Boone said the team is being conservative due to the proximity of the strain to the UCL. The 29-year-old has been limited to 59 games this season and has a .235/.325/.443 slash line with 12 home runs.

Hicks (elbow) could begin throwing within a week, manager Aaron Boone indicated in a WFAN podcast Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Boone stated that Hicks is doing well and that the team is being conservative with his recovery due to the proximity of the strain to the UCL. The 29-year-old should "move pretty quickly" through the rehab process once he resumes throwing, according to Boone. In 221 at-bats this season, Hicks is hitting .235 with 12 home runs and 36 RBI.

Hicks (elbow) won't be cleared to throw for at least another two weeks, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hicks was hopeful to get the green light to resume throwing Monday after visiting doctors, but manager Aaron Boone stated that Hicks will need to wait at least two more weeks. This will likely push the outfielder's return date back to early-to-mid September.
