EDGE Analysis

Weber agreed to terms on a three-year contract with ZCS Lions (Switzerland) on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
After appearing in just two games for the Penguins this past season in which he registered four hits, one shot and a minus-3 rating while averaging 11:19 of ice time, Weber will return to his native Switzerland. Selected by the Canadiens in the third round of the 2007 NHL Draft, the blueliner spent 13 years playing in the NHL for Montreal, Vancouver, Nashville and Pittsburgh, garnering 28 goals and 66 assists in 499 games. This likely will mark the end of the 32-year-old's time in the NHL, as he figures to close out his career overseas.

Weber was reassigned to the taxi squad Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Weber hasn't appeared in an NHL game since Feb. 1 despite being on the active roster all month. The veteran blueliner isn't likely to play much this season.

The Penguins added Weber to their active roster Saturday, Seth Rorabaugh of TribLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pittsburgh's blue-line corps has been decimated by injuries, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Weber make his Penguins debut sooner rather than later. The Switzerland native picked up three points in 41 appearances with Nashville in 2019-20.

Weber was placed on the taxi squad after he was unable to get to Boston in time for Thursday's contest against the Bruins.
EDGE Analysis
Weber was signed by the Penguins following injuries to Brian Dumoulin (lower body), Mike Matheson (upper body) and Marcus Pettersson (upper body). Once the 32-year-old Weber is able to join the Pens in New York for Saturday's matchup with the Rangers, he will likely replace Kevin Czuczman on the active roster and could be in action on the third pairing with Chad Ruhwedel.

Weber won't be in the lineup versus Boston on Thursday due to travel complications, Josh Getzoff of PensTV reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Brian Dumoulin (lower body) added to the Penguins' growing list of injured defensemen, the team really could have used Weber on Thursday. The 32-year-old Swiss international is expected to link up with the team in New York for two games against the Rangers. In the meantime. Kevin Czuczman figures to be activated off the taxi squad in order to give the Pens a full complement of defenders.

Weber inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Penguins on Wednesday and was subsequently placed on waivers, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weber was with the Predators during training camp on a PTO but was unable to parlay that into a permanent deal. With the Penguins decimated by injuries on the blue line, including Brian Dumoulin (lower body) who was hurt against Boston on Tuesday, the club finds itself in desperate need of reinforcements. Assuming he clears, Weber should start out on the 23-man roster right away but will no doubt be moved to the taxi squad or minors if Pittsburgh can get some of its defensemen healthy.

Weber was cut loose by the Predators on Wednesday, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
After rejoining Nashville on a professional tryout, Weber apparently wasn't able to convince team brass to bring him back into the fold. With the team's normal AHL affiliate Milwaukee shut down for the year, finding an AHL-only contract could be tricky for the blueliner. At this point, the 32-year-old Weber may have to head overseas in order to continue his professional career. If he doesn't find another NHL deal, he would eventually retire having logged 497 career games for Montreal, Vancouver and Nashville in which he garnered 28 goals, 66 assists and 475 hits.

Weber will attend the Predators' camp on a professional tryout offer, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weber drew into 41 games with Nashville last season, picking up three points while averaging just 14:01 of ice time per contest. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 32-year-old vet earn a two-way deal with the Predators due to his wealth of experience and familiarity with the club, but he'll likely have to settle for a spot on the team's taxi squad.
