Steve Sullivan will almost certainly retire this summer. "I wouldn't say 100%, but 99.9%," Sullivan said. "I've had an unbelievable run." Even still, he's still training as if he's going to play next season, so if a team makes him an offer, he will likely give it serious consideration. He had seven goals and 17 points in 42 games with the Phoenix Coyotes and New Jersey Devils last season. He surpassed the 1,000 game milestone in 2013 and has 747 career points.

Steve Sullivan won't be back with New Jersey next season, but he hasn't decided yet if he plans to retire. "It's still up in the air," said agent Steve Bartlett. "He's taking some vacation time with the family and they're going to talk things through." Sullivan owns a house in Scottsdale, Ariz and it's thought that he may want to play somewhere on the West coast or return to Phoenix if he decides to come back for another year.

Steve Sullivan probably won't be back with New Jersey next season even if he decides not to retire. "With our situation, with our young forwards that we have coming back, Stevie has to play in a top-six situation and I think we have to go a little younger there," GM Lou Lamoriello said. Sullivan is contemplating retirement this off-season.

Steve Sullivan said he'd be "extremely surprised" if the Penguins are upset again in the first round. Sullivan, now with the Devils, was with the second-seeded Pens when they were shocked by the Flyers last season. "I'd be extremely surprised if something like that happens to them again," Sullivan said. "Extremely. You know, you learn from your past experiences. They've learned their lesson. Look at how they've played all season. They are a team with a chip on its shoulder, and it shows. They aren't going to get stunned by anything again."

Steve Sullivan registered a power-play goal and added an assist in New Jersey's 3-2 win against Montreal Tuesday night. He has only contributed a goal and a helper in his previous six outings since being acquired from Phoenix and was a healthy scratch this past Saturday. Patrik Elias scored when the Devils had a man advantage as well, while Jacob Josefson potted his first goal in 20 games this season. Defenseman Marek Zidlicky got on the board with two assists in the contest.

Steve Sullivan will be a healthy scratch against the Panthers Saturday afternoon. He will sit in the press box as the Devils need the roster spot for the returning Ilya Kovalchuk and New Jersey coach Peter DeBoer did not want to take Matt D'Agostini or Steve Bernier out of the lineup.

Steve Sullivan netted his first goal as a member of the New Jersey Devils since Feb. 15, 1997. As a fun side note, Martin Brodeur was the starter in that game too. Sullivan began his career with the Devils, but he spent the vast majority of it with other clubs. Now at the age of 38, he's come full circle and is trying to help the Devils make the playoffs. Unfortunately his goal on Sunday wasn't enough as the Devils still lost their seventh straight game.

If you need some power play points, consider picking up Steve Sullivan. It looks as if the newly-acquired Sullivan will get some time on the Devils' power play as a pointman, a job he has done with success in the past. He will also be skating on the Devils' second line alongside Patrik Elias. We recommend you take a flier on him and pick him up prior to Saturday's contest against Toronto.

Steve Sullivan will probably make his return to New Jersey's lineup in time for Saturday's match against Toronto. He begun his career with the Devils back in 1995-96 and skated in 49 games with the team in parts of two seasons before being traded to the Maple Leafs in the deal for Doug Gilmour. Sullivan just five goals and 12 points in 33 games with Phoenix this season and he'll provide the Devils with some depth up front down the stretch.
