Matteau will be out of the lineup Saturday against Minnesota with a lower-body ailment, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury bug strikes again in Montreal, as Matteau, who has only been with the team for five games since the trade deadline, is out for at least Saturday. The 22-year-old had just tallied his first point as a Canadien on Thursday and was averaging over 10-minutes of ice time per game. With fellow winger Lars Eller (illness) also absent against the Wild, expect Lucas Lessio and Charles Hudon to slot into the depth chart.

Matteau notched his first assist of the year -- and his first point in five games with the Habs -- in Thursday's 3-2 win over Buffalo.
EDGE Analysis
Somewhere, someone in an unconscionably deep fantasy league is slightly happy to see Matteau's secondary assist on Torrey Mitchell's game-winner. For most everyone else outside the 22-year-old's immediate family (and Habs fans), his exploits on the Canadiens' fourth line are of precious little interest.

Matteau, recently acquired from New Jersey, made his Montreal debut in Wednesday night's 3-2 shootout loss to the Ducks.
EDGE Analysis
Matteau skated at right wing on what is considered the third line, along with Sven Andrighetto and Jacob De La Rose. He had no shots and no hits, finishing at minus-1 in 8:39 of playing time. The 22-year-old former first-round pick flamed out with the Devils, scoring just three goals in 44 games in two-plus seasons and is hoping a change in scenery gives his career a boost.

Matteau was dealt by the Devils to the Canadiens at the trade deadline Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Don't expect the 22-year-old winger to enjoy a bigger role in Montreal than he did in New Jersey, where he was almost entirely pinned to the fourth line. He may be a former first-round pick, but Matteau hasn't shown much on offense at nay level of pro hockey.

Matteau was recalled from his one-game conditioning loan Monday and took the ice for practice with the Devils, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
That's only slightly more interesting news for Devils fans than fantasy owners, as Matteau has generally been a fourth-liner or a scratch this year, totaling just a single goal in 20 games.

Matteau (face) was activated from injured reserve and assigned to AHL Albany for conditioning work Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Matteau will spend a game or two in Albany before he figures to be ready for a return to New Jersey. With no 23-man roster limit after Monday, look for him to be called up some time after then.

Matteau (face) has been placed on injured reserve, Rich Chere of The Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matteau;s move to injured reserve opens up a roster spot for the activation of John Merrill (arm), which occurred Friday. The veteran winger presents little fantasy upside even when healthy (just 20 games played), so his placement on injured reserve shouldn't have much of an impact. However, the move rules him out for the indefinite future, and his return will likely be preceded by his own activation from IR.

Matteau suffered a facial fracture when he was hit by a deflected puck in Friday's practice, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matteau likely won't be forced to miss any time with the injury, as he can reportedly play through the ailment by wearing a full facial shield. Either way, fantasy owners don't need to concern themselves with Matteau's issue, as the 21-year-old winger has been a healthy scratch more often than not this season, drawing into just 20 of the 56 games the Devils have played thus far.

Matteau (illness) will return to the lineup Sunday against the Canucks, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matteau has been sidelined each of the last three contests due to the undisclosed illness, but it appears the issue is now behind him. He will replace Jiri Tlusty in the lineup Sunday, which would likely slot him on either the third or fourth line in his return.

Matteau (illness) will not play Friday against the Oilers, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matteau was able to practice Friday, but the Devils are set to role out the same lines as Wednesday, so the winger will miss his third straight contest. His next chance to slot back in will come Sunday against the Canucks, as Jiri Tlusty will continue to fill in his spot in his absence.
