Despres agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Nottingham Panthers on Monday, per BBC Nottingham.
EDGE Analysis
Despres played in 193 NHL games for the Penguins and Ducks, registering six goals and 37 assists along the way, but has been playing in Europe for the last five years. Selected by Pittsburgh with the 30th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, the 32-year-old blueliner never really lived up to his billing when he came out of the QMJHL.

Despres agreed to terms on a one-year contest with German club Eisbaren Berlin, Seth Rorabaugh of TribLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despres appeared in just 19 games for the Polar Bears in which he logged three goals and seven helpers. Concerns over his concussion history led, in part, to the blueliner's departure from the NHL but that hasn't stopped him from continuing his career overseas. Selected by the Penguins with the 30th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft, Despres generated six goals and 37 assists in 193 NHL games for the Penguins and Ducks.

Despres agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Kolner Haie (DEL) and will return to Europe where he spent the 2017-18 campaign.
EDGE Analysis
After failing to earn a contract with the Habs during training camp. Despres signed a minor-league deal with AHL Laval, but will make the move to Germany for the rest of the season. The 27-year-old played in just five games for the Rocket in which he tallied two points, four PIM and a minus-2 rating. At this point, Despres has probably logged his last NHL game, having logged 193 outings and scored 43 points in stints with the Penguins and Ducks.

Despres has been offered an AHL contract by the organization.
EDGE Analysis
While it's better than no contract, a minor-league only deal would not allow Despres to be called up during the season -- although the team could still sign an promote him down the road -- which is likely why the defender is looking into his options. Invited to camp on a tryout, it is a little surprising to see the team not pursue at least a two-way deal for the veteran considering it will be without Shea Weber (knee) or David Schlemko (knee) for Opening Night and beyond.

The Canadiens are expected to sign Despres and send him to AHL Laval, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despres was in Montreal's camp on a professional tryout and apparently did enough to warrant continued interest. He had been a top-four blueliner for Anaheim before suffering a concussion one game into the 2016-17 season. He skated for Bratislava Slovan of the KHL last year.

Despres will link up with the Canadiens on a professional tryout agreement for training camp.
EDGE Analysis
After logging just one game in 2016-17 while with the Ducks due to a concussion, Despres went over to the KHL last year. While with Bratislava Slovan, the blueliner notched 11 points in 44 games, along with a concerning minus-13 rating. With Shea Weber (knee) out long term, the Habs are probably trying to see what Despres has left in the tank, and if there is even a glimmer his former talent, will likely keep him around to help shore up the lineup.

Despres agreed to terms on a contract with HC Slovan Bratislava of the KHL on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Despres appeared in just one contest all of last season after suffering a concussion. One has to wonder if NHL clubs were hesitant to give him a look over concerns he might suffer another head injury. Instead the blueliner will head to Europe for the first time in his six-year professional career.

Despres (head) has been waived and, if unclaimed, will be bought out of his remaining four-year contract, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despres missed all but one game of the 2016-17 campaign with a concussion, which per NHL rules, must have received medical clearance in order to allow them to waive him. If the 25-year-old is picked up off waivers, Anaheim will be free and clear of his $3.7 million cap hit. If not, they will save $2.4 million against the cap in 2017-18 and would actually receive a cap credit in the following two years. Assuming there aren't any lingering concerns about his concussion history, the blueliner could be picked up by another club -- although likely not until after his buyout is complete given his inflated price tag.

Despres (head) won't suit up for Game 6 on Sunday in Edmonton.
EDGE Analysis
Despres continues to watch the game from afar and it's unclear at this point when, or even if, he'll be able to play during the playoffs. Expect more updates on his status once he begins practicing with the team again.

Despres (head) wasn't out for warmups ahead of Game 5 on Friday, per Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register. This is a clear indication that he won't play.
EDGE Analysis
Despres has only managed to play in one game all season, and that was the Oct. 13 season opener. He was taken off injured reserve in late April, but the Ducks aren't about to throw him into the fire in the middle of a tough playoff series.
