Pavel Kubina has officially retired from the NHL. A former seventh-round pick, Kubina won the Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning and a bronze medal with the Czech Republic in the 2006 Winter Olympics. He had 110 goals, 386 points, and 1,123 penalty minutes in 970 career games with the Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, Atlanta Thrashers, and Philadelphia Flyers. At his peak, he recorded back-to-back 40-point seasons with Toronto in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

Pavel Kubina has signed with Geneve-Servette of the Swiss league instead of returning to the NHL. The contract was announced on the team's website. Kubina, who split last season between Philly and Tampa, said he had offers from teams in North America. Any owners who were waiting to see Kubina return to the NHL can now officially move on.

Pavel Kubina has signed with Czech Extraliga team HC Vitkovice. Kubina skated in 69 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Philadelphia Flyers last season. He was allowed to walk as a free agent in July and could not find a home in the NHL, so he'll likely be staying there even when play resumes in North America.

Pavel Kubina would be interested in returning to Philadelphia next season if the organization decides it wants him back. "Hopefully I can play for a few more years," said the 35-year-old pending unrestricted free agent. "I love this game, that's why I came here. If the Flyers called me, I would answer. I think [GM] Paul Holmgren did a great job with this team. If you look at this team, you look at their age with 10 guys around 20-22 years, you realize how much potential and future they have. They're going to be in great shape for the next 5-to-10 years. They're just going to get better." His play has been on the decline for the past three seasons, but he could still serve as a veteran depth defender with some fantasy value.

Pavel Kubina is slated for unrestricted free agency this July and there's a good chance that he will be permitted to test the market. He appeared in 17 games with Philadelphia after being acquired from Tampa Bay in February, but ended up in the press box for most of the team's playoff run that lasted until Round 2. Kubina concluded the 2011-12 season with 15 points, 74 penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating in 69 games between the Lightning and Flyers.

Pavel Kubina is the Philadelphia Flyers defenseman who will be a healthy scratch to make room for returning blueliner Nicklas Grossmann in Game 1. Kubina isn't the same offensive factor as he once was during his best days with the Tampa Bay Lightning. It's also a testament to Philly's blueline depth that he couldn't even make his way into the top six, though.

After being a healthy scratch on Wednesday, Pavel Kubina might play in Friday's contest. Marc-Andre Bourdon is dealing with an upper body injury, so the Flyers are projected to have an opening for Kubina. Kubina had 15 points and 74 penalty minutes in 69 regular season games.

Pavel Kubina is set to begin the opening round of the playoffs as a spectator in the press box. He has skated on the team's extra pairing all week in practice and the Flyers are expected to go with rookie defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon in Wednesday's contest versus Pittsburgh. Kubina has recorded four helpers, 15 penalty minutes and a minus-3 rating in 17 matches with Philadelphia since being acquired from Tampa Bay.

Pavel Kubina will return to the Flyers' lineup tonight after missing seven games with an upper-body injury. The Flyers have had their injury problems on the blue line this month. Kubina's presence will be very welcome one day after the team announced Andrej Meszaros will miss up to eight weeks thanks to back surgery. In seven games with Philly after being acquired from Tampa Bay, Kubina has two assists and is averaging 18:23.
