Nabokov officially passed through waivers unclaimed Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Nabokov was placed on waiver by the Lightning on Sunday after struggling to the tune of a 3.15 GAA and .882 save percentage over 11 games. The 39-year-old will likely refuse an assignment to the minors, though that isn't guaranteed. If he does, it would make him a free agent with the ability to sign wherever he likes, assuming he wants to continue.

Nabokov was placed on waivers by the Lightning on Sunday, Elliotte Friedman of CBC Sports reports. Nabokov hasn't performed well in net this season, posting a 3.15 GAA and .882 save percentage over 11 games with the club. It appears the 39-year-old is showing signs of his age, and it's unclear what the next step will be.

Nabokov gave up four goals on just 13 shots before being removed in the second period of Monday's 7-3 loss to the Flyers. With Ben Bishop excelling in front of him, Nabokov hasn't gotten many opportunities to start this season. When he has though, the 39-year-old has struggled to the tune of a 3.15 GAA and just an .882 save percentage. Even though the Bolts are one of the best offensive clubs in the league, Nabokov makes for a risky play on days that he receives the starting nod.

Nabokov was the first goalie off the ice at the Lightning's morning skate, suggesting that he will start Monday's game against the Flyers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports. Nabokov's projected start Monday thus sets the stage for Ben Bishop to draw the nod on Tuesday against the Bruins.

Nabokov gave up two goals on 18 shots in relief of Ben Bishop in Friday's loss to Pittsburgh. Bishop doesn't usually have a bad outing, but when he does, Nabakov is there to step in. The 39-year-old backup was given credit for the loss Friday, putting him at 3-5-2 on the season. With a .892 save percentage and 2.82 GAA, Nabokov's best days are long behind him. The Lightning are one of the league's best teams, though, so whenever Nabokov gets the call, he makes for a decent spot start.

Nabokov is expected to start in net against the Penguins on Tuesday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports. Nabokov and Andrei Vasilevsky were the only two goalies on the ice for morning skate, leaving the former as the likely option in net Tuesday. He allowed two goals on 18 shots in his last outing Friday in a shootout loss to the Devils, and will likely split starts with Vasilevsky until Ben Bishop returns from a lower body injury.

Nabokov surrendered two goals on just 18 shots in Friday's shootout loss to New Jersey. It wasn't a strong outing for Nabokov, who has managed only one win in his last five starts. With starter Ben Bishop (lower body) sidelined, the veteran Nabokov is expected to split time with youngster Andrei Vasilevskiy. The 20-year-old made 23 saves on 24 shots in Tuesday's win over Philadelphia and is expected to start Saturday's game against the Islanders. Considering Nabokov's recent struggles, it's very possible the former Shark takes a back seat to Vasilevskiy while Bishop is out.
