Philadelphia Flyers GM Paul Holmgren denied reports that Daniel Cleary has been guaranteed a three-year/$8.25 million contract. That's not terribly surprising given that the contract isn't expected to be official until the end of September. For now Cleary will attend Philadelphia's training camp on a tryout basis.

Daniel Cleary has signed a three-year/$8.25 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. Cleary's deal will be official at the end of September and it will come with a no-movement clause. This deal is a curious one for the Flyers given that their third and fourth lines already looked solid and they were already up against the cap. With Cleary signed, the Flyers are expected to shop one of the nine defensemen, not including Chris Pronger, they have signed to one-way contracts. Cleary doesn't have much offensive value to begin with and this move doesn't do him any favors from a fantasy perspective. He isn't likely to get much playing time on a scoring line or with the man advantage.

Daniel Cleary wants to make up his mind where he intends to play this season. "It's not an easy decision to make," Cleary said after skating at Joe Louis Arena on Monday. "But I've got to come up with something today, figure out what I'm going to do. Got some options." He isn't interested in attending Detroit's camp on a tryout basis unless he gets a guarantee that he'll get a contract. Cleary says he has "options with guaranteed contracts from other teams," but he would like to stay with the Wings.

Daniel Cleary will make his decision on Sunday as to where he will be playing during the 2013-14 season. Cleary's first choice is with the Red Wings but the two sides have been unable to come to an agreement as Cleary remains an unrestricted free agent. Three other teams are said to be interested in Cleary's services. Cleary had only nine goals and 15 points during the regular season but was strong in the playoffs with 10 points in 14 games. Look for a 20 goal, 40-45 point season from Cleary and draft him accordingly.

Daniel Cleary has offers from multiple teams. Cleary's preference is still to re-sign with the Detroit Red Wings, but that might be difficult given the logjam they already have. That being said, the Wings might attempt to move some contracts to make room for Cleary. "I've got a great deal right now that I could take," Cleary said. "But I don't know. It's hard."

Daniel Cleary took part in a conditioning skate with his old Red Wings teammates. Cleary is an unrestricted free agent and there doesn't seem to be a spot for him with Detroit. He's a solid bottom-six forward so it wouldn't be surprising if an NHL team asks him to attend their training camp on a tryout basis and that ends up leading to a one-year deal.

The Detroit Red Wings have had interest in re-signing veteran left winger Daniel Cleary, who is an unrestricted free agent, but the team is having a difficult time finding salary-cap room for him. Don't expect Cleary to wait much further on the Wings. If there's a legitimate offer coming his way soon, he'll likely grab it, as the Wings attempt to whittle down their roster.

The Detroit Red Wings still might sign Daniel Cleary, but they need to address some cap issues first. Detroit is up against the cap ceiling and still have restricted free agents Gustav Nyquist, Brendan Smith, and Joakim Andersson to sign. Their decision to use only one of their two compliance buyouts might haunt them as now they need to see if they can unload a contract on the trade market.

Daniel Cleary is likely to re-sign with the Detroit Red Wings. Cleary's new contract will probably be in $2.5 million to $2.75 million range annually for three years. He had 15 points and 40 penalty minutes in 48 games last season.

The Wings are still engaged in conversations with Daniel Cleary about returning. The 34-year-old winger recorded 15 points last season, one in which he made $3 million.
