LaRose was assigned to AHL Charlotte on Monday. LaRose got a chance to spend camp with the Hurricanes, but he did not show enough to earn a spot on the Opening Night roster. He is not officially under contract with the Hurricanes, but he does have a pact with Charlotte and was a Hurricane from 2005-2013, so he could join the team at some point.

LaRose made his return to the Canes' lineup during Friday's 5-1 preseason win over Buffalo, but left after receiving a game misconduct early in the first period following a boarding incident, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports. The was LaRose's first game at Raleigh's PNC Arena since April 2013. In training camp on a professional tryout, LaRose was attempting to jump-start his career after sitting out all of last season. Following Friday's game, coach Bill Peters said that if there is no disciplinary action from the league, he expected LaRose to play in Sunday's final preseason game against Washington.

LaRose (quadriceps) has been invited to the Hurricanes' training camp on a tryout basis, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports. LaRose, 32, who sat out all of last season and is also recovering from a leg injury suffered during the summer, is probably a longshot to crack the roster at this point. However, prior to last year LaRose had played eight consecutive seasons for the Canes, so they may be giving him a look out of courtesy due to his long history with the team. If he does manage to land a roster spot, it will surely be as a third- or fourth-line checking winger.

LaRose, who signed an AHL contract in July, is recovering from a quadriceps injury, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports. LaRose missed all of last season and nearly left the game for good, but is attempting to make a comeback this year with the Charlotte Checkers. He originally suffered the injury roughly eight weeks ago in training, but returned to the ice this week skating with Canes assistant coach Rod Brind'Amour. He hopes to be ready for when the Checkers' training camp opens later this month.

LaRose is currently injured and not on the Hurricanes' training camp roster, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports. Details of the injury have not been provided, however LaRose was not likely to crack the Canes' lineup this year anyway, after sitting out all of last season. If and when he returns to health, expect to see LaRose suit up for the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.

Chad LaRose might attempt to come back to the NHL next season. LaRose hasn't played professionally since the 2013 shortened campaign, but he is interested in speaking to Hurricanes GM Ron Francis. Francis suggested that he could offer LaRose a tryout agreement that would allow him to prove himself in training camp.

Chad LaRose's agent, Mark Guy, said that he has had discussions with multiple clubs over the summer about the notion of his client continuing his NHL career with a team other than the Carolina Hurricanes. "Nothing that has resulted in a contract yet," Guy SAID, "but that is his and our goal." Regardless, LaRose said he plans to continue living in the Triangle area of North Carolina, where he owns a custom-home business along with his brother-in-law and played for the Canes for the past 10 seasons.

Chad LaRose explained that he skipped his end-of-season exit interview with the Carolina Hurricanes because he "needed a cool-off period." "Nobody was happy we didn't make the playoffs again," he said. "I took some time, cooled off, and then I went and saw everyone, talked to Jimmy (Rutherford), paid my respects and thanked them for the opportunity with them." LaRose's agent, Mark Guy, is exploring his client's options now that he's an unrestricted free agent.
