Bryce Salvador is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He displayed great leadership and emerged as a unexpected source of offense during New Jersey's playoff run to the Stanley Cup final. Salvador missed the entire 2010-11 season with a concussion, but he skated in 82 games with the Devils this past campaign. The 36-year-old blueliner has probably earned himself a short-term deal, but we'll have to wait and see what both sides decide is best for them.

Bryce Salvador has become an offensive stud in the 2012 playoffs. Salvador had only nine assists with nary a goal during the 2011-12 season in which he played in all 82 games. But the playoffs have been a different story for the 36-year-old defenseman as he has four goals and 14 points to tie Drew Doughty as the top scoring blueliner in the Stanley Cup playoffs. "That's something that he's really kind of mastered here over the last month of the playoffs," coach Peter DeBoer said. "He's had great composure back there for us, getting shots through. We wouldn't be here without him." Do not expect similar results next season from the defenseman who has never scored more than five goals or 16 points in a lengthy NHL career.

Bryce Salvador, who missed the entire 2010-11 season because of a concussion, scored the winning goal on a deflection off a defenseman at 9:05 of the second period in New Jersey Saturday night to keep the Devils alive in the Stanley Cup championship series against the Los Angeles Kings. The Devils prevailed 2-1 and now trail the Kings 3-2 in the best-of-seven NHL championship showdown. Salvador, a previously unheralded defenseman, has been an extremely valuable player for the Devils in the post-season, with four goals. Zach Parise also scored for New Jersey. It was his eighth in the post-season and first in the Stanley Cup final. Parise opened the scoring on an unassisted, power-play goal at 12:45 of the first period.

The Los Angeles Kings have been so dominant in the playoffs this season that they have yet to play a Game 6 and are 10-0 on the road, which is why the New Jersey Devils feel winning at home in the Stanley Cup championship series tonight could plant a major seed of doubt. "It is a big game from their perspective," Devils defenseman Bryce Salvador said. "When you're in a position when you have an advantage, you never want to lose that advantage or take things for granted. In their mindset, they don't want us hanging around. From our standpoint, each game we're able to play the way we play, allows to keep building momentum." Rookie Devil Adam Henrique added: "That's where you want to get them, get a little doubt in their minds." After winning the first three caps in the Cup final series, the Kings dropped a 3-1 decision to New Jersey in Los Angeles Wednesday night and lead the best-of-seven set 3-1.

After missing the entire 2010-11 campaign due to a concussion, this season has far exceeded Bryce Salvador's expectations. "Obviously it's been a great experience from where I was last year," Salvador said. "It's been one of those things I'm definitely enjoying. Anytime you get an opportunity to have some success in the playoffs and an opportunity to maybe have some great success, it's an experience that every player wants." Salvador's play offensively in the postseason has been a big surprise. He has three goals and 11 points in 18 playoff games after recording just nine points in 82 regular season contests.

Bryce Salvador contributed an assist in Wednesday's win to draw him even with New York's Daniel Girardi for the most points among all defensemen in the NHL playoffs. Both players have recorded three goals and eight assists for 11 points, but Girardi has accomplished that total in 19 games while Salvador has done it in 17. Salavador is also tied with Los Angeles rearguard Drew Doughty for the best plus-minus rating among the defenders in the postseason with a plus-10. The 36-year-old veteran has really stepped up this spring and his offense has been a welcome addition to the team's offensive attack.

Bryce Salvador generated a goal and an assist in the Devils' 4-1 win over New York in Game 4 Monday night. He has become an offensive machine in the postseason and has already surpassed his point from an 82-game regular season. Salvador has recorded three goals and seven assists in 16 playoff games compared to the nine helpers he amassed over a full regular season in 2011-12. It's unlikely he'll be able to carry over this success into next year, but fantasy owners in playoff pools must be pleased with the defenseman's surprising resurgence.

Bryce Salvador has added an offensive element to his game during the 2012 playoffs. He notched nine assists and a plus-18 rating in 82 regular season games after missing the entire 2010-11 campaign due to a concussion. In 12 postseason contests, Salvador has already contributed two goals and four assists in addition to his plus-8 rating. He has been a big reason why the New Jersey's unheralded defense corps has helped the team reach the Eastern Conference Finals.

Bryce Salvador's empty-net goal in Game 2 against Philadelphia was hist first tally in 108 games. His last marker came on March 10, 2010 against the New York Rangers. Salvador shot a knuckling and bouncing puck down the ice when his team was killing a penalty, so he was credited with a shorthanded goal at the 17:09 mark of the third period. After having just nine points in 82 regular season games, Salvador has contributed four points over nine postseason contests. He also has a plus-7 rating, 21 hits and 11 blocked shots while averaging 22:27 of ice time per match.
